Activity Forums VEGAS Pro Audio question

Is there any way of getting event audio back after accidentally deleting it, besides importing the event back onto the timeline, and thus losing all of the trimming and effects that i’ve just spent ages working on.

I’m thinking there should be some sort of quick option that just matches the audio with your video clip, and vise-versa, in these circumstances.

did you save the project after deleting the audio file? if not, close it and open it back up without saving.
you could also try to open the backup file although that file does seem to autosave changes in real time.
by default, your backup files are in your application data folder: Local Settings\Application Data\Sony\Vegas Pro\9.0\
it saves them as veg files.

what did you use to change the audio files? perhaps that program has backup files you might be able to restore.

    good luck.

If you’re referring to an audio segment that was part of a video clip, the easiest way I’ve found is to double-click the video segment, right-click and select “open in trimmer”.
The entire video clip will be there with the relevant portion highlighted.
Right-click the audio portion of the highlighted segment, drag it down and line it up on the empty space on the timeline, let go and select “Add across time”.
The missing audio will be there once again.

    Thanks for both answers.

Mike, that’s exactly what i meant. I knew there would be some way around it. Thanks. I was surprised not to find a specific command somewhere in the menu as i thought it would be a common need, and also something that would be quite simple to program into Vegas.

Perhaps it’s just me that encounters this situation and perhaps i need to sort out the way i edit!!

Chris, I’m glad to hear that it worked out for you.
You’re not alone in coming up against situations such as this.
I’m not sure where I picked up the suggestion I gave you but it was obviously on a Vegas forum somewhere.
