Yes, I have worked with native AVCHD on my system. But again, performance will be a function of CPU speed, GPU , Ram and Disk IO speed. Give it a shot!

FYI Colorista 2 has very robust secondary color correction capabilities.
But as I said, use whatever approach works for you and change what doesnt. Best of luckTom Daigon

I think your first problem is using a Firewire drive for your media. You need a much faster system to playback large HD files using the Mercury Playback Engine.
Unfortunately, the offline-online workflow is not well supported by Premiere Pro. Google for the nitty gritty details.
I pretty sure you need a faster media drive (I use the Dulce DQg2 16 TB system) in order to get better IO performance.

The only thing I would do to simplify the process would be eliminate this step.
—-‘Main Video’ sent to After Effects via Dynamic Link (import PP sequence into AE) for color grading (Color Finesse) and noise reductionI use several grading programs (MB Colorista, Adobe 3 Way,bMB Looks) right within PP. This way it keeps the sequences intact for revisions or updates.Depending on your system and the complexity of your CC, the Adobe 3 Way plays in real time with no rendering needed for playback.Of course this needs to be something you are comfortable with. For me it seems to do the job!

In CS6 there are now Environment Layers that do the same kind of mapping. The might only be available in the new Ray Trace mode, however. I have not compared the two as to which is better.

DaVinci Resolve is not a plug in which is what the OP requested info on. Thats why I only mention the CC like Colorista, etc.
And to be honest, plugins are MUCH easier to use with a simpler workflow as well.
