    Hi All,

I am looking to purchase a plug-in suite for AE and or FCP.

    What I need is:

    a) sophisticated color grading tool

    b) generated efx. for example, I want to have a suite of plug-ins that aid in the simulation of natural disasters, such as earthquakes, tsunamis and explosions in the sky. I’d say some of my best references are scenes in Lars Von Trier’s Melancholia and Tree of Life by Terrence Malik.

    c) good plug in for speed ramps / slow motion and fast motion

i was looking at Magic Bullet Colorista II, Digieffects Delirium, and Boris Filters… There’s also trapcode. I’m a little overwhelmed with the range of options out there and was wondering if you could recommend a few specifically for these needs. I want to create naturalistic annihilation if you understand what I mean…

    Thanks so much.

You wont get it all in one suite. Since you say you want plugins

    1. Magic Bullet Colorista . Or Color Finesse which is very nice and free in AE. Also Baselight from Film Light, though Ive never used it.

    2. Nothing per see. Twitch to shake things. Video Copliot Action Essentials for spectacular stock footage for explosions, fire, debris.

    3. Speed ramps and such can be done in AE using standard functions.

    4. Trapcode Particular can give you 3 dimensional particle explosions that are quite cool as well.

    5. There is software called Tsunami, but its more for ocean / water creation the killer waves.

Of course there are options for color correction that are quite advanced, but they arent plugins

    Good luck!

For speed ramps/slow motion and fast motion you can go for
    RE:Vision Effects “Twixtor”.
Its an awesome plugin and can slow down your videos to a great extent without any jerk. Also its too easy too use.

I would suggest the Red Giant plugins you mentioned. There’s the Magic Bullet Suite, Trapcode Effects Suite, and Effects Suite, which will help you out with a number of your needs:

    https://www.redgiantsoftware.com/products/all/magic-bullet-suite/

They also have a lot of tutorials on the site to get you rolling, and to see whether they will indeed do the trick for you.

Also take a look at DaVinci Resolve Lite for color grading. There is a bit of a learning curve at the beginning but it is worth learning as it is a very powerful and flexible color grading tool. I also like the DigiEffects damage suite for some really nice film looks.

DaVinci Resolve is not a plug in which is what the OP requested info on. Thats why I only mention the CC like Colorista, etc.

And to be honest, plugins are MUCH easier to use with a simpler workflow as well.
