As a matter of fact Walter. I have un and re installed 7.72. And then did the same for 7.6. Encodes still failed.

This is a commentary I wrote to Shane R. about the situation a few minutes ago…

I am now using MP4 H.264 which encodes at twice the speed of its QT sibling. And on the HP Z820 thats screaming.And QT player can play it.Its encodes are clean and small files.

And OP1a which is a mastering standard for many European countries is based on Sony’s XDCam codec and can be played by VLC Player which is free. And it encodes about twice as fast as DNxHD or Proress due to the fact it isnt QT based and reliant of the qt32server bottleneck.For personal archiving it will work.

Its seems systemic.

But basically being a positive person the silver lining is this…

David, the only drawback I find with DNxHD is that it requires the QT32server which acts as a bottleneck and slows things down when exporting.

For comparison I tried the OP1a MXF format (a broadcast standard in Europe based on Sony’s XDCam) and it was TWICE as fast and just as clean as DNxHD.

I know its not an acceptable codec in the US , but it points out just just how efficient some newer codecs are that dont relie on QT.

This problem seems to be systemic since it affects MPEG Streamclip as well.

You need to contact the distributors you mentioned directly and get a spec sheet from their engineers or programming department. They might all have different requirements. Dont assume anything.

Phil, it is embedded in AE. To use it…

1. Highlight the clip in your comp

2. Go to Animation/Track in Mocha

And Mocha will open up. Its been integrated into CS6 so you must have AE open to access Mocha.
