How to get this type of film-like shaky look?
Hey guys.
I’ve wondered a lot about this before; I wanted to know how to achieve this effect. It’s difficult to explain because I don’t think anyone has ever mentioned it before. Has anyone ever noticed that in older films, the picture slightly shakes? Even when the shots are completely still, there is this subtle shake.

Look at the title Goldeneye – it appears to have a tiny shake, it’s not perfectly still.
Also at 2:00 – The shot with the girl with the cane appears to be shaking a tiny bit, even though the camera appears to be still.How could I achieve this realistically in AE?

If what you’re talking about is the slight side to side shake, it’s called Gate Weave, and was caused, on actual film, by the miniscule side to side motion that occurs when the film stock is not identical in width to the film gate (which of course it can’t be, or it would jam). Yes, while Twitch can do it, there’s another one from Red Giant that’s specifically made to do it. Magic Bullet Suite includes a module called Misfire, which creates film effects, from Gate Weave to scratches and dirt. It’s a way to make that pristine footage you spent so much time on to look good…well, look bad:
