There is Mark Clip which effectively marks the clip and allows you to use its duration in the edit process (like replacing it with another clip).
I have keyboard mapped that to the X key just like in FCP. Keyboard mapping makes the transition from FCP much easier.Tom Daigon

I thought I would chime in with info on the new AJA drivers for Adobe. They are up and running and allow display of PP, AE and PS on an external monitor.I am using Kona 3 with a Panasonic 2600W. It works great!

You need the Kona drivers 9.0.3 AND the Adobe Plugin drivers 9.0.1.

Uner Preference – Playback setting make sure you have the drop down option for Blackmagic (drivers). If you dont, you need drivers that support 5.5, which many vendors are working on now. Check their website for new downloads. If not, contact them.

Actually for me I already had Adobe CS5 on my system. And it works just like FCP with the AJA Kona 3 that I have as well. So in this case, little to no immediate investment was needed to try out and explore the software. And EFX work I do is in AE so the library of plugins still are accessible and don’t need replacing. Cheap!

After 5 years with MC and 12 with Avid DS, no way in hell would I ever go back. Im learning Adobe Premiere Pro which works hand in glove with After Effects. And since I need to do lots of motion graphics, its perfect for me. And very similar to FCP 7, but supercharged.

The best way to find out is conduct a scientific approach to trouble shooting..
1. Make sure you have the latest aja 9.0.1 drivers (both the kona/lhe drivers AND the 9.0.1 Adobe plugin). If problem persists…
2. Make sure you have the most current Nvidea driver for you card If problem persists…
3 Uninstall the Adobe plugin and check for problems
You get the idea. Im on a Kona 3 with ATI card so I cant be of specific help.

FYI I am currently having playback issues with AE linked clips on the PP timeline when using the new AJA Adobe plugins. I use Kona 3. Currently working with Adobe and AJA to resolve.
