How often do you clean out your Media Cache and Media Database files? Control for these are located in Preferences/Media. Sometimes cleaning them out can address problems. Also trashing prefs and repairing permissions can clear stuff up. Also I heard heard from others that at the top of the Media Prefs page its wise NOT to have Save Media Cache files…. Checked. Turn off that function. I hope this helps.

Ted, check to make sure that the TL playback window is set to full resolution. Right click on the screen and toward the bottom of the drop down menu you will see playback resolution and off to the right you can choose Full Resolution.

Dont worry. The I-Frame only MPEG is for viewing (previewing) your timeline purposes ONLY. It speeds up the process. When you finally export it will create (render) the primary format / size that your sequence has been chosen to be, unless you decide to change things when exporting thru the Media Encoder.

For clarification – I mean choose a clip in the PrP timeline.

I have had this happen .This is how to avoid it. All your comps should be in only ONE AE project.

1. Choose clip in PrP and Replace with AE Composition. (DL)
This opens up AE
2. Choose second clip and Replace with AE Composition. (DL)

The trick is when you return to editing this project (ie the next day),
select the AE DL clip on the PrP timeline and choose Edit Original. This will open the existing AE project with all your comps. If you make the mistake of selecting a new clip and Replace with AE Composition, now you have 2 AE project files with similarly numbered comps. This is where things get screwed up.
Once an AE Project exists, you should open it FIRST by highlighting an existing AE DL clip in Prp and Edit Original.

Im not knowledgeable about debayer in AME, but when editing a Red Cinema sequence in Premiere Pro 5.5, the only place Ive seen options for debayer setting is under Source Settings. If you highlight the red clip then right click this option is available. A screen very similar to Red Cine X reveals and this is where I usually set the debyer to Half and to primary color corrections as well. It seems to really speed up the sequence on my system.

For what its worth, I have a Mac Pro 3,1 with 24 gigs of ram and lots of software (CS5.5, lots of plugins for AE, Logic, Mocha, Syntheyes, Toast) and the upgrade seemed to go fine. I haven’t check FCS 3 but that’s history for me anyway so no need.

I found out that the latest Nvidia Quadro 4000 drivers and CUDA drivers need to be running on OSX 10.6.8. When I tried to install the drivers on 10.6.7 the software wouldnt let me do it.
