What version of Boris Continuum Complete are you using? We had this problem about 8 months ago in our facility an unfortunately the fix was to upgrade to BCC6. I don’t know if Boris have released a fix since then.

    3) Apple QMaster was turned on, on all FCP edit systems. You can’t do that in an ethernet shared storage enviorment.

Hi Bob, can you explain why it is not advised to use QMaster in an ethernet shared storage environment?

The only reason I ask is that we have a number of laptops connected over ethernet by MetaLAN to a MetaSAN server. All of these laptops have QMaster enabled and are fortunately not exhibiting any problems, but I would be keen to know what might happen if this doesn’t change.

    Thank you.

There are very quiet rumours going around of a possible upgrade to the MacBook Pro line in April. If you can hold off this long it might be worth it to either pick up the new better model or get the now out of date models (the ones your currently looking at) cheaper.

In terms of which system would suite you best I agree with Walter that an iMac sounds more than capable of handling what you need. However I would say if you already have a good setup with you’re current G5, monitor, mouse etc, swapping in a new Mac Pro would be simple and would allow for future upgrades.

I don’t know if this will help but it might be worth a shot.

Apologies for digging up an old thread, but did you get anywhere with this?

For new readers; I need to export a BWF for transcription on a Zoom H4N recorder. After significant Google/COW searches, I still can’t find anything useful pertaining to exporting files with embedded timecode.

    All advice appreciated.

“Final Cut Pro recommends that your system have a CPU speed of 1.25 GHz”

    “Processor Name: PowerPC G4 (3.3)
    Processor Speed: 1 GHz”

    There’s your problem right there.

You don’t have much choice as the AG-HMC150P records in AVCHD. The best editing codec for FCP is Pro Res, you shouldn’t need to worry about ProRes HQ as AVCHD maxes out at 24Mbps.

August 17, 2010 at 10:34 pm in reply to: final cut studio serial number question?

Tell your “friend” to navigate to Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Pro Apps and delete Final Cut Pro Studio System ID.

This will delete the previously entered serial number, also tell your friend to buy a second FCS3 serial and don’t use serials off the internet.

A quick Google shows this site as a potential scam, enough for me to not purchase from them, I’ll leave the decision up to you though.
