i’ve been having a bunch of problems with rendering and jittery shadows and motion stills strouble too…

i’m trying to figure out whether I’m doiung something wrong or if there is indeed a bug with these things…check out some of the other posts related to this ..

i’ve only had problems since upgrading to 5.x …sorry can’t be of help…but misery loves company right?

aqctually, i take that back…the shadows still shake like crazy AFTER i render them… never used to happen in 4.5…

so, i did a little more investigating… here’s a question

when you go to sequence>settings>video processing tab>

there’s the option for “always render in RGB”, “render in 8-bit YUV”. …

i was set for “render in 8-bit YUV” buty my question is …

would i get better results with “always render in RGB”

anyone know?…thanks

i know…i’m actually not having any issues with drop shadows …AFTER they’re rendered… but in 4.5 they looked just fine BEFORE they were rendered…as well as all the other things I mentioned in original post. i think when they created the “dynamic” thing they messed with the way we can view a lot of other things…including large stills and images that have any motion assigned to them. I’m having to try to correct a lot more “jittery” images than i did in 4.5.

don’t get me wrong, I’m still a huge fan…especially of the multi-cam options…I just feel like things have taken a bit of step backwards in some areas…

thanks everyone… bummer we’re not able to control the gain inside fcp…especially since we were able to in the last version (altough it was hidden pretty deep in the settings)…now the level control is right up front and center but “greyed out”. hm.

i just installed tiger with same set up…had no major problems…went pretty darn smooth, in fact…

only trouble was my windows media player (for mac) won’t play files anymore. i’ve been told to just reinstall windows media player…haven’t tried that yet.

also, i upgraded to fcp 5 at the same time because i have heard that there some issues with 4.5 running on tiger…don’t know what theissues are but i amgine fcp gets tripped up or bugging. might be worth investigating more…or upgrading to fcp 5 if possible. the multicam feature is really awesome if you ever need that kind of thing.

sorry, i don’t have a list but I’d love to hear from anyone that might no of such a list. I assume that the problm might be that everyone has their own “proper settings” depending on what type of projects they are used to working on…but i would love to see some samples of other peoples settings…

i don’t know if they extended the deadline but the original purchase dates of the rebate offer were from August 15 October 31, 2005.

I bought mine from Beach Camera (a gray market dealer?) on 10/6… I got my check for $500 today. (the paperwork says 4-6 weeks). the battery and tapes are supposed to arrive 4-6 weeks fro today.

ok, folks that was it. i changed the motion/still setting to BEST and re-rendered and everything looks awesome. thanks a lot for all your suggestions. also, dan, i guess your blue might be what I call gray, cuz’ now I see the full grayish blue bar across timeline. so thanks again -god bless creativecow!
