So it really will be possible to record exposures like 10 seconds per frame with hvx?

I don’t see the significance of p2 connection speed (640Mbps) compared to firewire (400Mbps) or even fw800(Mbps).
Question is how to get affordable flash memory even with 100Mbps speed.I’d also appreciate full 1280x720p50/60 resolution at any speed (40-100Mbps) instead of what dvcprohd now offers (960x720p50/60).

Maybe everything will be revealed next week at DV Expo. -

December 2, 2005 at 3:04 pm in reply to: Are the analog outputs for the HVX200 switchable to RGB?AFAIK, from our conversation with Jan about pixel shifting, hvx200 does not function exactly like bigger cameras with full res chips.
Because hvx200 has smaller chips, it needs to use pixel shifting with lower res chips to achieve better sensivity with larger pixels.
Again AFAIK, hvx200 re-aligns these pixel shifted r-,g- & b-pictures very early in process pipe still in analog domain to achieve sharp aligned YPbPr-picture.
So because there is no stage where picture would be in aligned rgb-mode, there is no way to output this rgb-image.
Jan said that there will be an article about how hvx200 does this pixel shifting in defperception.com, so that will clear this thing even more.

2007 maybe InPhase’s HVD. -
[Randall3] “In the end, the picture will be the story, yes?”
Definitely yes.

Where do you even need decklink?
Or are you mastering to tape through hd-sdi?
For the storage, if you are doing any bigger/longer productions, I’d suggest anything with raid5.
Every hard disk will break down and if you are having lots of productions, it will propably break down in the middle of production. -
[Randall3] “You keep implying that Panasonic has intentionally engineered an inferior camera when market share is so obviously at stake.”
Can you tell me, how do I do this?
I have already said twice, that using h&v pixel shift is the best thing you can do with this camera.
(And with every camera with small chips & YCbCr recording.)
At first I was worried that hvx200 would use only horiz shifting, but Jan informed us (at least for me this was news) that it will use both h&v.
Pixel shifting is a trade off between ultra sharp color resolution and camera’s low light sensitivity.
I prefer the latter one. It gives the camera much more flexibility and after all what’s the idea of $6k camera if you need 6kW to light a simple small things…What I would have liked to do is to have a conversation about what pixel shifting is in ideological level and how it’s done in practice. I believe that deeper understanding of a technical tool, will always benefical when this tool is used for creative work. Then we would have to have define a couple of terms more precisely to be able to use them.
Obviously this was an bad idea and others here do not want that kind of conversation here.
I’ll give it a rest.
