    Yes it would be nice.
But as we have noticed about announcing HVX that “2007” can mean “2007Q4”, which can mean January 2008.
So if new cards come out steadily 16GB should be out 9/2006 and 32GB 5/2007.

[David Battistella] “The firestores will make much more sense per GIG”

Problem with firestore is that it can record only 100Mb/s with dvcprohd (because HVX’s firewire stream.)
    CinePorter sounds much more interesting…

    Thank you Bob and others,
I think I’m aiming for XPower + LaCie Rugged.
Now if just European Panny could get those ridiculous HVX’s European prices to somewhat balance with rest of the world…

[George] “the hvx is actually a 720p camera!”

What do you think a camera with 720ccd’s with pixel shift producing 1080 image should be called?
Should they try to market 720ccd-with-pixel-shift-producing-1080 camera?

If you would be dumping the cards at the studio, it would be easy.
You’d just have a raid5 and data tape backup done every night automatically.
No manual copying after dumping at all.

Problem is in the field, you need electricity for that raid5 box.
But usually there is electricity available and you could set up laptop and storagebox right where you use to have a film loading tent. And clapper/loader can handle copying like s/he has handled film loading before.
Copying can be done simultaneosly with shooting, loader just has to verify that it happened properly.

I have the same idea. And because the new MacBook does not have dl-dvd, it can’t backup 8GB cards and I’m still waiting for better model…

[toke lahti] “Ok, this might be good or bad thing.
    What f-stop did you use?
Did you use any other f-stop for comparison?”

    More questions;
Now that I’ve understood that my consern about horiz res was useless because I didn’t notice that people were talking about “lines per height” (my apologies for this mistake, Jan and everyone), I’d like to know if there were any differences between 1080i and 1080p with vert res?

[Barry Green] “I’m basing my 5.25 x 2.95 guess (and it is only a guess) from the info on Panavision’s frame & format list: ” target=”_blank”>https://www.panavision.co.nz/main/kbase/reference/tbleframelist.asp”

I think we can trust Panavision in these things, so diameter of 2/3″ is 11mm and 1/3″ is 6mm.
Every day I learn something new and many times something very fundamental… 🙂

[Karl] “The initial reports are say 1080p is maybe 20-30% better than 720”

Can you point us, where has been resolution comparison between 1080 and 720 with HVX?
