    [Noah Kadner] “Hallelujah!”

    Amen!
I’m turning to be a believer!
I’d feel so much safer if we had someone from Panny Europe like Jan here…

…Funny how you feel like you’d earned $1600 in a second, when really nothing has happened.
I hope these prices reflect nicely to prices here in Europe also…

[gary adcock] “Blame the EU for topping your sync at 50….”

Yeah, sure, big bad EU is forcing Panasonic Japan to cripple their product and to sell it with higher price in Europe…
    You forgot the smiley…

First guess: auto focus or/and optical stabilizer was on?

[Chris Elley] “The 60 fps had incredible results.”

Glad to hear. Sad to know that Panny decided that we Europeans do not need 60fps…

[Jan Crittenden Livingston] “Which is why we did finally win the BetaSP war with DVCPRO25.”

How, where and when did you win this war?

So you can “print to p2” with avid, but not with FCP?

  • Dvx100 is not so good if you shoot 16:9.
Or maybe, with anamorphic adapter, but I’m not sure how (geometrically) distorsion free those new adaptors are. Old ones had a lot of barrel distorsion in the widest end.

Well, if they are using BBC’s technology, naturally BBC’s engineers think it’s good. 🙂
But _very_ interesting. Dvi 8-bit bottleneck removed…

Graeme, any links to these BBC’s angineers’ sayings?
Have Frontniche already announced any prices?

One big difference with HD is that it is primarily watched with big screens.
So it is more important than with SD to get that big screen feeling also in editing process.
    So small

[scott davis] “- Lost frames during the load of the footage when it went in between P2 cards pretty regularly. Might be the edit suite, but it was too consistent to be a coincidence.”

This is why copying files is much nicer than feeding video stream over firewire.
If there’s an error in file copying, it gets done again, as opposite to if there’s a drop in video stream, the camera does not know that and does not rewind and play it back again.

[scott davis] “- FOCUS ASSIST!!!!! This thing rocks. It looks like it does a digital zoom and enlarges the portion of the center of the screen to help with fine-tuning focus. Very nice feature. Only thing though… it didn’t seem to work unless shooting in either 1080i or 720P, any frame rate. You can’t use it if you’re shooting to tape. Hmm. That’s odd.”

Quite logical I think. There’s not so much resolution in the picture to zoom in with SD.
