I hear media managing the sequence will fix it.
I think it’s in the Cow somewhere.

Thanks for the reply Bob,
First, thanks for the obvious solution first. Sounds dumb, but often the most over looked.Regardless, the view in FCP is set to all frames. It’s the Kona that sees no video. n the control panel, on input, it says “no video”.
I will try you solution of adding a SDI source and checking.
As for how I convert SDI to DVI, I have an AJA HDP SDI to DVI converter.
This rig has worked for a year as wired. It worked yesterday. No hardware changes since.
Just an evening shut down, then AM start revealing my troubles. Thanks again,

This will help many of us.Thanks,

I learned from some antiquated Avid’s back in the day to capture the whole tape, but to capture it in 5 minute chunks. It helped keep the system from bogging when down loading such a huge clip into the viewer.
Helped in managing media a bit too.Work smarter, not harder,

As a freelancer, I work on several different systems.
Here’s the way I have survived for the last 5 years on FCP with 20 different clients.
On your internal HD create a PROJECTS folder. Only projects go in there, nothing else, nope not even that. You can make client specific folders inside the projects folder, but only project files go in there. No music, no graphics, nada.
I also create a folder for AUDIO (narration, music, sfx, etc.)in the mac HD. These files may be numerous but they are small in required storage space, so I’ve been told they can go here.
Then, I make an EDL/DIG LIST folder in here too.
On my largest storage drive I make 3 folders, one called IMPORTS (this is where you could put all of your still pictures for the video)another called EXPORTS (export a QT or MP3 or whatever) You can make client specific folders inside here as well. Many people think it’s ok to just slap’em on the desktop. Not really. The chaos of sorting through the mess later is only the smallest part. Here’s the best part. The third folder is called GRAPHIC ELEMENTS. This is where the graphics or show elements you always use go. Like your company logo graphic for your wedding videos. You put that here and nver delete these. You’ll never have to recapture these. They live here forever.
If you keep your media organized so many problems can be eliminated, or at least alleviated. It makes cleaning up you drives quick and easy. Relinking media is effortless, and if you have a system to follow, you have a system, not a box stuffed with disorganized random garbage.
Good luck,

Man,
I envy your problems. Never seen the Dell, but the Mac screen is pristine. I use a 30″ mac w/one of my clients and I could not imagine such a gi-normous workspace as two of ’em. You should look around for some rather large desks as well.Good luck in your hunt.

this is the third, at least, post I’ve seen like this in the last week. I posted about 2 weeks ago with the same problem. The consensus seemed to be to trash your preferences and try again.
I have been recently working on the same system that had this problem and it has not repeated. It seems completely random.
Good luck, and keep us updated if find a reason for this bug.

hey there,
Just gimme your email and I’ll send you a template we use. You have to keep the column headings the same but it rocks. Just add your data then save as a text or tab delimited file (i forget which) in the save as function, them import batch list into your project.Saves a ton of time.
