September 14, 2005 at 7:57 pm in reply to: Any gamma issues in Kona land with FCP5, Tiger, and After Effects? To my knowledge Apple 8bit handles the ae/fcp transfer but apple10 (FCP5) does not. I’m testing mostly with 720p but that is what i found and was told by an aja tech person. I’m still trying to get to the bottom of it myself. Everything I’m doing now is in Apple 8 for that reason. Hope to move to Apple 10 when this is sorted out.

>>Did you upgrade to QuickTime 7 Pro?
it seems to be automatcally pro in the fcp 5 (says pro)
>>Have you tried deleting the FCP preferences and caches?
ya – but this is at the desktop level. Ref movies made in QT. import image seq then save as ref (2-3K movies). most were made in QT 6.5.1.
>> A likely problem is that the original media has been moved, renamed or deleted.
Though in this case all is very carefully organized and has not been moved or renamed.
>>Try a search in the FCP forum to see if anyone else is having a similar problem.
will do – but so far i am rebulding them all.
>>My systems don’t seem to have that problem, so I don’t think it directly has to do with QT 7, FCP 5, or Tiger.
tis a wierd one – let me know if you think of anything else.cheers,

I would love to have some simple clone/paint function for removing dust/dirt/red hot spots from moving images.
Is that possible with a plug? or does it need to be built into the app?-3 way CC is of course greatly needed. though it should have an analogous version for AE and FCP so one could make the migration around and save color correct work(thinking auto duck here for the migration).
Cheers,

>>So you’re not going to edit and color correct the 60 min version, then cut it down to a 54 (I think you mean 44) minute version? That would seem the logical approach. Are you saying you’ve already offlined the 60 and the 54 and NOW you want to color correct >>and online? If you did it the former, then of course everything links up to the same footage.
of course that would be great. But i’m just doing the online and color correct. offline is locked and the project just came in my door.>>Possibly if you select both seqeunces and do a batch they would link to the same media. But I don’t know how you’d ever color correct one sequence and expect it to jump to another. The color correction info is in the sequence. Not the media.
i hear you. i’m more interested in the online solution actually since i guess i could copy and paste all my color corrects. but i’d rather not redig the entire film 2x?

–especially since it works pretty great on a G4 and has for a good while.
i’m guessing it is too hard to sort out (and promise) all the other RT and offer mixed formats. Cinewave is limited to a few layers… but darn handy – as i said, i use this feature on almost every project. hard to lose once we’ve had it. seems like a major oversight. but i guess we all have slightly different needs. the app looks great otherwise.todd
