    Good point….

Coming from Premier 6.5 with a Canpus Storm, I can’t argue too much about the crap part. I now own Vegas but the interface is vastly different.

I think 4 hours is pushing it, that’s for sure.

PS, and 4 gigs of RAM is not enough.

I think it’s possible that 4 gigs of RAM is part of your problem. My Vista 64 system seems to hover up around 3.5 gigs of RAM when editing and it may be that your multicam stuff is kicking it right up to the limit.

I’ve also heard that if you install CS4 over CS3 you may have to use some kind of cleaner available on the Adobe site.

I hate to be a broken record but I had these types of issues with 2 different HP computers. Not sure if it’s the hardware or the bloatware but different issues with each. Led me to believe CS4 actually did not work but it’s fine on my Dell Studio XPS i7 rig.

    Good luck.

Are you saying that your capture card only does 1 hour at a time?

Ahhh…..good old VHS. Pop it in and record.

  • Not a bad question at all.

I’ve had this issue exporting, then importing DV to make a blooper reel.

    Anybody know why this happens?

  • That codec may be to old for Vimeo?

I sure miss the simplicity and functionality of my 6.5…. sucked into CS4 and back to being a troubleshooter again.

I got OK results using a .wmv 1024kbps I think.

    Good luck.

  • Thank you.

As I had suspected. I’ve been getting a pixelated look during slo-mo segments whereas in the past it just got a bit more blurry.

Exporting to DV AvI and letting DVD Architect do the encoding. May have something to do with the really bright (gray ocean at the back) conditions but this is new….CS4 thing?

    Appreciate the input.

It’s brutal. Once it’s actually encoding it’s fine but if you want to do 120 stills like i used to do you’re SOL.

    Hopefully they’ll get the message.

I miss my “movie” export which was immediate and great for exporting “bloopers” quickly to be edited together later.

Nice that you can encode a lot of things at once and walk away though.

Lots of feathering if you can get away with a more ‘etherial look.’

I had a tape stolen once and spent many, many hours inserting clips from a 2006 speech into a 2007. It was time consuming and did not look like Lucasfilm when it was done but the customer was happy and thought it looked kind of cool.

    Good luck.

My Canon XH-A1’s have never given me the beautiful images that my old DVX did. It’s a nicer camera to handle….great rings, HDV, etc, but you’ve got to fight it for months just so get what I consider to be a reasonable image.

I have a business to run and I’m not a camera geek so I’m not in love with the Canons yet…..looking back to the new Panny but AVCHD may have a long hard road ahead before editing is seamless.

I own Canons now but I’m still a Panny guy.
