Off of the same HDD? What is your original 4k footage running off of? Sounds like it could be your storage, since you say everything is the same except the computer. But, need details/specs.

Find the clip you need in your Project bin, right-click on the clip and go to Modify, then select Audio Channels. Select format as Mono and make sure your L channel is checked. Hit OK. If your audio was on the right channel, you would select R instead of L. This will make a single channel mono.

How was it captured? And was it captured with a variable frame rate?

I know on a Windows encrypted drive, any software on that system is able to access the data off of it since Windows is the one that is decrypting the data as you go. It may slow down editing many layers, but I’m not sure about how much. I just know that it should work fine on Windows encrypted disks. I haven’t worked with any other software disk encryption, but it should be the same. I did say “should”. Since there is a large number of options. You haven’t stated what encryption you are looking at.

Uncheck Maximum Depth, you don’t need it going to h264. And you could uncheck Maximum Render Quality unless you are scaling to a different image size – even then, when going smaller, I usually don’t check it and have better results than having it checked.

March 14, 2018 at 3:43 pm in reply to: Cloud or External Hard Drive for storing media files/projects?I get bare internal HDDs. They’re cheaper. Use a USB docking station – like https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1058320-REG/startech_sdock2u33_usb_3_0_dual_sata.html?ap=y&c3api=1876%2C%7Bcreative%7D%2C%7Bkeyword%7D&gclid=Cj0KCQjwkKPVBRDtARIsAA2CG6HdjFc6uJi6Lxcqq-D0orfxVwG5kTp_sBWhnNf8BP1VzIS6QuuR5GcaAprvEALw_wcB
Then there are HDD boxes that you can put them in to store. Something like
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M5BCCQ5/ref=sspa_dk_detail_5?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B01M5BCCQ5&pd_rd_wg=jvDlh&pd_rd_r=MJDA2CF91HGHKEAAZKV6&pd_rd_w=nLNcrUse a good file/folder structure. Name files well. Label drives/boxes well for ease of locating.
Helps to have a spreadsheet or doc with a listing of each drive.TC

March 14, 2018 at 2:52 pm in reply to: Cloud or External Hard Drive for storing media files/projects?After all that. I’ll say I usually go with multiple HDDs. Store them safely. Spin them up once in a while.

March 14, 2018 at 2:51 pm in reply to: Cloud or External Hard Drive for storing media files/projects?This is the million dollar question. How do I archive my media? There are many ways to go about it. None are completely safe. What you are comfortable with and paying for will be the driving force behind what you do.
Cloud storage is pretty cheap, but has a premium if you ever decide to download your material – then there’s the upload times…
HDDs are cheap, you can buy bare drives and use a “toaster” appliance to dock and store those safely someplace. Same with external drives, but they are slightly more cost. If you do single drives like that, you will want to copy your files to two or more drives.
RAID drives are not an archive, and they are not a backup – unless you can afford to have a pair of them to backup to. If you’ve ever lost data from a RAID 5 or 6 system, you will understand this all too well. They are nice, but do have deficiencies.
If you do go with a HDD with a spinning platter, make sure to spin them up every once in a while for a few minutes.
I’m sure others will have good thoughts on all this as well.
Good Luck!

Not sure what file your image may be, but maybe open in PS, make a new PS doc using an RGB HDTV preset, copy your image over to it. Then import that PSD doc into your project.
