You should have no problem opening a 2014 project in 2017. It will ask you to save a copy of the project the moment you try opening it. Going back to 2014 would be a problem.

Without knowing the codec it’s a crap shoot.
You can see if Handbrake will convert it, or if VLC can play it, you could convert using VLC. Handbrake is easier, IMO.
Or you could find someone with a Mac to convert them.

Something you could try. Try importing that project into a new project.

Basically keep the lower fields with the lower fields and the upper fields with the upper. That’s just one of those things we had to put up with in the old days of SD.

When you position horizontally, make sure to use increments of 2, or even increments, no decimal points either.

I’m telling you. Check in VLC or even get MediaInfo if you are really concerned that the data rate on your MXF is too low. I would trust what they tell you about an MXF file versus what you are seeing in QT. I am betting that using those standard MXF settings in AME, that MediaInfo will show you the video bit rate at 50 Mb/s.
And yes, stick with a standard MXF to send the station. I wouldn’t bother with DNx??.

You opened one of these MXF files in QuickTime? When I do that QT converts the file – I assume to h264. Did that happen when you opened it? If that’s the case, you are not actually looking at the mxf file. Open the file in VLC and check the Media Information. VLC can open the mxf. And there you should be able to find the Media Bitrate.
