  • Upgrade from Premiere 2014 to Premiere 2017

Hello all, I am working on a clients machine with Premier 2014. I have captured footage and started some very rough timelines picking out clips. A subcontractor is coming in to finish the project but he would like to use premier 2017, is that possible to do without losing any of the work already done in Premiere 2014?

    Thanks kindly, Moooo,
    Jim

I’ve heard lots of people say you can import old projects into new versions but not the other way. So the project probably can’t be sent back to the client’s Pr 2014 once it’s worked on in Pr 20117. It will have to stay in 2017. Is that what you want?

If you do want to go back: might loose some functionality/editing due to not being available in old version.

Hi Robert, we are looking to from 2014 to 2017. I think we will wait…just in case.

    Thanks ,

You should have no problem opening a 2014 project in 2017. It will ask you to save a copy of the project the moment you try opening it. Going back to 2014 would be a problem.
