Nate, Use a longer lens. If you need a closer proximity then try to wrap camera in a barney, or blanket. I suspect the horse may think the sound is a snake. Also, get a good horse wrangler.

well, first off I was just hanging out in the boondocks of Homewood, on the west shore of tahoe. Man was it cold.
regarding p2. I have used this quite a bit and everyone has an idea on how to handle it. It really depends on what editing system your editors are using.
Most network and film people use avid. Theese editors take the mxf file and get it to the avis timeline then they output through a AJA or blackmagic card to a digibeta or whatever they are using.
However, if you are using FCp then you can incorporate into your timeline and use it.here’s a p2 workflow:
Shoot on p2 in whatever format 720 or 1080
download full card to a hard drive for xfer to post facility.
erase card for furthur recordingfilm workflow:
shoot film
send to lab for processing
film is xfered to hD or digibeta format
input into editing systemedit show
lock edit and sound
do color corection on final edit
do on-line edit to masterNot sure on metadata, sounds technical.
Hope this helps

You should re-think this. I am sure you can be more creative in your “office” idea.
But more importantly, you should consult or even hire experienced production people.
(Sound, videographer, lighting tech, etc.) You will be glad you did.Todd McMullen

We use it as an additional camera and as a football camera for Friday Night Lights.
Check it out on Tuesdays on NBC. see if you can tell what is 16mm and what is p2.
we shoot it at 720p 24fps.Todd McMullen

This has been brought up before…do a search maybe it’s still around. Rockport could be good with a good instructor, check out AFI in LA and maybe USC. If your into still photography as well, do a lot of shooting and lighting of subjects. see what you like and don’t like. experimentation and constant shooting is key.

Filters generally come in 2 major catogories. Color correction or control and diffusion. There are of course specialty filters, such as diopters and other effects filters. So with this in mind you need to decide what you are needing for each application. You mentioned interviews. Maybe consider a slight diffusion on subjects with rougher complexion or maybe a warming filter to warm up the look. soft efx, pro mist and classic softs are good things to start with. Just experiment, that way you know what you are getting.

July 15, 2006 at 1:39 pm in reply to: is data transfer from HVX200 to the IPOD video possible?Ziggy,
FWIW. I use an older firewire ipod for data transfer. I used it on a tv movie without problems. 1080. I would dump footage from p2 in powerbook to ipod. send off to editorial and they would download and send back. I also used a g-tech mini.

Are you talking about motion control vs. time lapse? Just pan or tilt during an off frame. Obviously, use small moves and a very good fluid head.
