I’d use the Clone Stamp tool together with motion tracking, like this:

October 11, 2013 at 3:37 am in reply to: How to do rotating 3D object effect?

Of course, you can just create a rotaring 3D object in Cinema 4D, and bring that into After Effects.

But for the simple example that you show there, you can do something else, like place some shape layers in 3D space, parent them to a single null controller layer, and rotate them as a unit. One convenient way to connect points in 3D is this script: https://motionboutique.com/connect-layers-1388/

Use Magnum the Edit Detector to chop the movie into individual shots. Stabilize those individual clips.

The After Effects CC (12.1) update, which is due out this month, will do a much better job at processing multiple clips with greater speed and less strain on resources:

By the way, when I say “yet”, I mean that we’re starting investigation of this now. If all goes well, we may be able to include this ability in an update later this year.

After Effects does not import those files yet.

    You’re describing rotoscoping.

  • > Warp Stabilizer is pretty useless in these scenarios..

Which version are you talking about? After Effects CC (12.0) includes new features to deal with precisely these scenarios:

October 9, 2013 at 8:20 pm in reply to: Change footage in a duplicated composition

    To elaborate on Juan’s answer:

Duplicating in the Timeline panel makes a new, duplicate layer based on the same composition.

Duplicating in the Project panel make a new, duplicate composition.

  • Is it happening by only one vertical pixel? Is the footage interlaced? If so, have you separated fields for the footage?
