  • Change footage in a duplicated composition

    Hello everybody.

I want to make a video with 20 almost identical compositions.
The only thing that I want to change is the main picture.

Seems to be simple but how can i do this?

    My first idea A
The easiest way would be to duplicate the composition and change the picture in comp 2.
But this changes also the picture in composition 1.

    My second idea
Save the whole project in 20 different projects. Render them all and put the final clips togehter.
But this ist complicated and not very fast.

    Any better idea?

    thanks a lot
    mike

If you duplicate the composition in the project panel – not in the timeline – you can change the main picture in one composition but not in the other.

    To elaborate on Juan’s answer:

Duplicating in the Timeline panel makes a new, duplicate layer based on the same composition.

Duplicating in the Project panel make a new, duplicate composition.
