64-bit Windows XP is not a supported operating system for After Effects.
I don’t know that that has anything to do with your problem, but it may present difficulties. Just FYI.
Here are the After Effects CS4 system requirements.
You said that you contacted Adobe. How? Did you use the contact options on this page?
(And, no, I’m not in Adobe Technical Support.)

There’s additional information about this behavior (which some people refer to as “boomerang motion”) in the “Controlling change with interpolation” section of After Effects Help. That page gives solutions in addition to the ones that Dave outlined, and it points to some tutorials back here on the COW by Aharon Rabinowitz, in which he explains everything very well.

MXF is a container (wrapper) format. There can be all sorts of different kinds of footage inside of these files. We’ll need to know what kind of video footage you have in those MXF files before we can be of much help.
You can see what kind of MXF files After Effects supports here:

> All is well. It was human error, luckily. I still don’t know what caused AE to initially fail….but I figured out the install problem. I had a AE 7.0 disc in my AE CS3 box and was trying to install that. This OS wasn’t liking it, I guess.
Thanks for posting back with the solution.
Do you recommend NOT cross-posting between Creative Cow and Adobe forums?
Do what works for you. You’ll get good answers in many different places. If you do cross-post, those of us who answer a lot of the questions do plead with you to close off the other threads when you get an answer—as you’ve just done here.

I see that you got an answer for this on one of the other forums where you cross-posted. It’s considered good form to post back with your resolution, so that people don’t waste their time on this forum trying to help you through a problem that you’re not having any more.

June 7, 2009 at 11:32 pm in reply to: Adobe after effects 3D stroke doesn’t work for meIn the middle of your post, you say that “no one has put out adobe after effects the basics”.
I encourage you to check out the resources under the “Getting started” heading on the After Effects Help and Support page.
For the basics of Trapcode’s 3D Stroke plug-in… have you tried the material that Trapcode provides on their site?
