If you are just trying to apply the same effect to multiple layers, the easiest thing to do is to select the effect, copy, select the target layer, and paste.

Also, you can create an animation preset and apply that.

Or, you can use the Copy With Property Links command and then paste to the target layers if you want to maintain a connection between a master layer and several subordinate layers.

Since this is basic After Effects material, it seems that you might benefit from taking a step back and going through the basic learning materials:

Are you sure that you have multiple layers in Illustrator? Some folks get confused between objects and layers in Illustrator and have multiple objects on a single layer, rather than having multiple layers. The Release To Layers command is useful for preparing Illustrator files for After Effects:

The ability to import a single layer from a PSD is only offered when you choose to import the PSD as footage, not as a composition.

Doyle, that is a misrepresentation of how the cache works.

See the video that I linked to above. If you have previewed an element even once, then it will be retrieved from the cache on rendering for final export, too, rather than be recalculated.

Also, to the point of the original question: If a logo doesn’t change, then After Effects will retrieve the previously calculated result from the cache every subsequent time that it needs to show the rendered pixels for the logo. This persists across sessions, even, if you have the disk cache turned on.
