Hi Ben,
Good motion stabilization is an art-form all its own. There is complete stand alone software design just for this purpose. Sometimes to get a good ‘track’ or proper stabilization, you’ll need to run multiple passes. You should reload the ‘swaying’ footage and see if you can stabilization out the sway.
FWIW: I ran into a similar issue with footage shot with a Helicopter, it had a slight wobble that the stabilizer couldn’t track out. (this was pre-FCP smoothcam) Eventually I ended up using a plug-in for AE, from the Foundry. It eliminated all of the vibration. Great plug-in, but VERY expensive.

Sorry if you miss read my post or I didn’t explain it clearly, but that is exactly what I meant. ONE external FW drive to write the project and media files to.
Then they just take the FW drive back and forth between the laptop and tower.thanks for helping to clear it up.

The EASIEST way to maintain your project between computers would be to have a separate FW drive that you write the project and media files to. We use a lot of G-Raid drives for this and it works perfectly.

It sounds like you’ve created a keyframe that takes the photo off screen.
Try making a copy of the clip, resetting the keyframes and start adjusting in smaller steps, then see if you notice the photo flying off screen.
It’s a common problem with FCP to ‘think’ you’re making adjustments to a clip that are not really affecting it.Good Luck,

Click and drag over the clips you want to effect or apple click on individual clips and then right click and choose overlay.

You’re question is a little vague…but if I understand you can apple click multiple clips from your browser, then either drag them onto your sequence as a overlay, F9 them onto the sequence, or drag to the canvas window for the overlay command.

Hi Ryan,
The way you’re doing it should work.
When you are trying to reconnect the media with the ‘new’ 16×9 clip, you’re probably going to need to uncheck the box that says ‘same name and/or file’ (I can’t remember how it’s stated).
Once you do that FCP with let you replace the file with any clip you want. Do keep in mind that unless you’re ‘recapture’ is EXACTLY the same time and in and out points, the edit will slip out of sync.Good Luck,

I’m having a little trouble understanding what you’re trying to accomplish?
You’re trying to make a multi-clip?
Once you make a multi-clip you can drop it into a sequence and sync the clip with the playback. It’s pretty straight forward. You can look in the ‘help’ of FCP and it’s shows you how to fairly quickly.Also, please indicate you’re system, OS and FCP version-as it has a big effect on how to do a multi-clip setup.

Editing in ProRes is going to be your best choice in editing codecs. Retains the most quality, but without huge file sizes.
I’d stick with .h264 for you’re web delivery. (Flash would be the only other consideration, but requires other software)

Hi Meghan,
While I’m not sure why this happens (i’ve experience it myself on a couple of occasions, but haven’t taken the time to track down the answer), if you can save the image as another format, it should clear up the problem. I had a tiff that wouldn’t show up, so I change it to .pict and it worked fine.
Pict format is my fall back for just about anything, works well with Mac’s.
I’ve also had success even doing a ‘save as’ with the original still image and it fixed the problem.Good Luck,
