    Hi

I need to import some DVD footage into FCP 6 that I will then be cutting down and exporting to upload to Vimeo at SD resolution…I’d like some advice on the most suitable codecs to use to ensure the best quality.

I’m using Mpeg Streamclip to rip the DVDs but could someone recommend the best codec to use and then again what codec to use when exporting for upload to vimeo (I usually use h264).

    many thanks
    Toby

Editing in ProRes is going to be your best choice in editing codecs. Retains the most quality, but without huge file sizes.

I’d stick with .h264 for you’re web delivery. (Flash would be the only other consideration, but requires other software)

    Good Luck,
