It was Ultimate S that I tried before. It worked fine initially, but then if I added any more slides or video clips to the timeline, it would tend to mess up what I’d done before.

    I’ll loook into Excalibur tho.

Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions and feedback.

Thanks for all those helpful tips guys.

It seems my problem was not having enough overlap to make the crossfades effective after all. But having read and tried your suggestions its made a big difference.

Re Panning and zooming. I’ll practice on this too and get back if I have problems.

    Thanks again.

    Thanks for that Terje.

Someone also gave me a tip, which was useful in reducing
my 59mb wmv file to just 21mb, with little drop in quality.

What the suggested was: Select Render, WMV option, then click on Custom, Video Tab, then select the VBR option, and also reduce the Average Bit Rate if need be. (I reduced mine to 700 K )

Im very happy with the end result. Trouble is, it now takes almost twice as long to render a 4 minute video in Vegas-5.
It would take me around 20 mins, now its 45 mins since the changes I made (as above).

Any ideas why this might be, anyone?

    Thanks

    >Why do you think it’s not good for photo montages with larger numbers of photos? I think it works great for that purpose.

    Hi.

This is just my personal opinion – based on doing a mammoth 40 minute slideshow in ProShow Gold in March, which took me 2 weeks to do; but I reckon it would have taken twice as long in Vegas-5, since I find it more time consuming to set up each custon Pan and Zooms etc (scripts dont work for me).
But youd have to try ProShow Gold to know what I meant.

Any, just my 2 cents worth.
I was trying to help you out.

    cheers

Ah! Thanks Mike. The ‘add as take’ option via Media Pool works a treat, and has saved me a lot of time (and will do in future).

The second option wouldnt work (“right-click the image to be replace in the media pool and select “replace” from the menu”. as it alters all 6 slides.

But Im happy with your first option 🙂

(BTW: Ive just realised, the music track Ive added to this video Ive made for my Nephew, is sung by ..’Altered Images’ (called Happy Birthday). Would you believe it? 🙂

    Thanks again

I’m beginning to realise that Vegas/5/6? isnt much good for photo montage projects involving large numbers of images.
I’m therefore tempted to do my image work in the awesome but simple Pro-Show Gold in future, and then export the finished video into Vegas, if need be, for rendering to WMV etc, and/or adding Vegas/Adorage refinements

Hi. I tried that but there seems to be no option to “Add as Take”. I tried the right-drag suggestion, but it knocked all my slides and timing out and I had to ‘undo’ it.

    Are you using Vegas-5?

Thanks for any further help on this one (tho I suspect that perhaps this option was overlooked by the Sony developers)
