I prefer to create/build a mutli track on 1 sequence, then always keep that build sequence in file. Once built, I create a new sequence and then copy all the audio tracks from the clips from the multiclip build sequence and place then into the new sequence. From there, you can turn off the audio cuts via the edit? menu (or off the browser window)–by selecting video only. (I don’t have it open, am doing it from memory)
Now you cut only the video track and have all your audio on the sequence to do with as you please. But this is only me personal way of doing it…. Hope this helps

Chances are you rendered out the project, then made a change or two, then rendered again. However, the existing render files are still lodged somewhere in memory. Best thing to do is open render manager and delete all the existing render files. Then re-render everything from scratch. This should take care of your issue.
Hope this helps. We’ve had success with this approach, and I heavily recommend it, especially when working with stills.

Render files have been stored on our XSan for quite some time with no problems. Only issue is the buildup of file space, but that can be remedied by visiting the Render manager or by visiting the Render file. As far as working on 1 project with multiple users/machines, I do not think FCP is capable of running that way. The most stable and proper way I’ve heard is to open, work, close, send.
But it seems there is something out there, either a program or perhaps a completely different program alltogether, that does allow multiple connections. —of course, I’ve been keeping eyes on various other programs and may be getting slightly confused….as happens on occasion….

November 9, 2005 at 5:32 pm in reply to: Delay shipping new dual-core Powermacs?

We had placed an order about a month ago with the Dual G5 2.7. Apple called us around the 15th and asked if we wanted to change our order to the newest Dual Core G5, which we decided to. From our correspondance with Apple, they have estimated the ship date to be November 18, 2005. (Even got it marked on the calendar!) From the websites and hearing people talk, this seems to be the correct date, –which Apple has always told us and had on their website. I don’t know why they would of told you that you would have it on the 1st unless you were testing it for them, and the rest of the world mid to late November. But people, salesman in particular, will usually tell you something which may or may not be true just to get the sale. 🙂 Who knows…. But seriously, Apple has had posted on their sites and in their articles the ship date would be mid/late November.

I am going to guess that your stop/start of each clip are too close. In other words, clip A ends where clip B ends, and there isn’t any handles on each clip. Try adding some handles to the end of clip A and the start of clip B. (Clip B you may have to add on a few seconds in Livetype.) This is, of course, without know what your setup is. You can set clip B on Video track 2 and start it 30-60 frames before clip A ends, then add the transition on clip B.

    Nevermind–I just figured it out.
(For anyone else who may wonder, it is: Go to Library/Application Support/ProApps and remove the Final Cut Studio System ID. When you relaunch FCP Studio, it will ask for the info and serial.)

Hold down the shift key, go to AE–>Preferences–>General–>cycle thru the panes and you will see the “secret” pref. So in answer to your question: Yes, AE’s version for the Mac does have the secret pref.
