Guess the question is: Did you buy Mograph? It will only be there if it was included in the package you purchased.

Hey Chris –
The plain effector will effect your clones based on the falloff.
It defaults to infinite. You’ll need to switch it to box or linear and change the size to fit your needs. You can animate its scale to make the lights turn on from the center out, or you can animate its position to have them turn on in rows…
Either way, it is the falloff you’ll need to animate in some way.

If you us a plain effector you can turn off position, rotation and scale on the parameter tab. Click on the Visibility checkbox at the bottom of the parameter tab.
On the effector tab you can adjust the maximum and animate the falloff. I set my Max to 3% and set my falloff to box and animated the falloff scaling. you might need to check the invert checkbox on falloff to get the effect you are looking for.
Let me know if that makes sense. Just starting my coffee intake for the day.

If you put the deformer as a child of the cloner, the cloner thinks you want to clone the deformer…
The cloner and deformer as siblings in a null whould get you the result you are looking for.

You could try to put the cloner in a null, put the deformer in the null…
Again, not sure unless like Adam says – you could include a file.

Sorry Brian – I hope that didn’t come off as a come back. I wasn’t even aware of what the 12 core Macs cost, so I thought it appropriate to mention it.
I totally agree, never as cheap as it sounds. Especially when you consider the potential for viruses, bugs, etc that Windows seems to be more susceptible to.
I ran the numbers on a 12 core PC, sure would be nice to get one for myself. If you step down just a bit from the speed the Macs offer, similar quality video card, a nice Lian Li case, 12 GB RAM and a Blu-ray burner (had to throw it in)…with operating system it comes to just over $3k. If you have to buy your Adobe suite and C4D on top of that, yea, might as well stay with a Mac assuming you own the software for it.

I’ve always built my own PCs. If you order the motherboard and have them install the processor, that’s one less thing to worry about messing up. After that, it’s really about plugging in cables and wires to the right place. When I built my machine it cost roughly $1000 with a nice case and a good amount of RAM. The “equivalent” Mac at the time was around $2700
My machine is about 2 years old now and is still a workhorse.
Just my 2 cents. If you aren’t comfortable building a machine, you can buy a custom or stock model. Just know you won’t save as much doing so.
I currently work at a school where we only use Macs, but I use my PC at home and still love it.
