Sorry. My initial post was unclear. it appears very ‘jaggy’ when there is motion. Some jagginess is expected with interlaced footage, but this is extreme and the interlaced lines appear very thick. It looks as if the odd and even fields are out of sync with each other by a few frames. I tried to attach a video still of the problem to this post, but it instead started a new post…so I don’t know what happened to that pic. …but it should be somewhere in this forum?

I’m having the same problem in Vegas 10. Were you ever able to figure out what was causing this?

I really wish they would do away with that feature in that case. I can’t see how it could be helpful. If I want that media in the current folder, I’d put it there. I often right click on events and open their source in the trimmer, then drop segments back down to the timeline.

I try to stay on ‘all media’ but inevitably I forget to switch back to ‘all media’ and screw up my organization without knowing it.

I’m sorry…I left out a key detail in my haste. Its when I drop a portion of a clip down from the trimmer that it adds that source clip to the current bin that is open.

I’m not sure what the answer is, but my talks with Sony support in the past led me to believe that you won’t get a whole lot of help from multi-cores when editing in Vegas because video playback is a single thread (?). You’ll see the benefits of more cores when rendering though.
Sorry I’m not more of a guru, but hope that contributes something. I’m curious to know the answer too.

I updated to Vegas 9e and my issues went away. I guess there were some bugs with 9a that needed to be worked out. So far so good with HDV captures.

I tried capturing footage shot with a Z1U (HDV) and it works fine. Also, I did a project with my Z7U in Progressive mode (HDV)a while back and don’t recall haven’t any issues. I may repeat this to confirm. So it seems to only have problems when I shoot in 60i with the Z7U… which sucks cause I shoot a lot of stuff in 60i to match z1u footage and because my deck only plays 60i footage so progressive footage must be captured using the camera. I’m still amazed that I can’t find anyone else out there who is having the same issue.
