April 17, 2010 at 7:33 pm in reply to: Compressor limited to two channels of Audio??

    Thanks guys,

So I’ll check that the default for the audio in FCP is un checked and set to discrete to avoid the stereo mixdown. I’ll also check the settings in compressor to pass through and report back.

    Thanks

    Thanks All,

Since its a good quality shoot outcome I’m going to hit the books and run it through the FCP keyer following their seven steps suggested in the manual.

The plug ins seem to be offering better control and craft options but I better get basic keying right first.

    Best and Thanks

    Hi Jeremy,

Understand all of that and I’ve got my FCP upgrade ordered and after that I’ll purchase the MXF4QT.

My use and what I thought I would get when I added the card to the camera was that if I was three hours out of town shooting for say news.

At the conclusion of the shoot I could email the proxies back to the suite where the editor would assemble the story and get approval. He would media manage the story to on line when I got back three hours later with the real media.

This also applies to Documentaries where you can send home proxies to production from day one of a two week shoot – all manner of uses open up BUT the proxies don’t have code!!!!!!! :(.

    Exactly Jeremy,

Can you spell out in technical terms whats’ missing in the proxies and the Metadata to make them more FCP Friendly??

Bjorn at Hamburg Pro Audio once wrote a LOOOOONG work around once but we just need the Proxies to have T/C mostly.

    Point taken Nate,

I’m trying to get producers to own their own raided drives like the Cal Digit VR.

    Hi Gary, Jeremy and Shane,

    So T/C is present???

All other NLE’s capable of being on a laptop are able to target a clients drive using T/C in the stream?

If so I’ve got CS4 so I’ll plan to use it in future.

Surely with the Gazzilions of FCP licenses sold, a plug for FCP to fake a deck being present would be a great seller for someone ???

Acknowledging Apple’s lack of interest here, Is this a product of where FCP came from all those years ago – was it Engine??

Like the I/O but trying to stay away from hardware solutions. As the point of all this is to avoid additional hardware.

Any comment about Native AVCintra non adoption by Apple??

If Sony’s codecs and workflows are adopted at or near launch and they are not a partner with Apple, what is Panasonic doing wrong??

Surely the best marketing is wide adoption of the workflow at launch.

You wouldn’t need to discount cameras ( destroying early adopters investment ) to sell them if the P2 workflow possibilities blow XDCAM and its derivatives into the weeds – as AVCINTRA100 with its superior codec, being native on FCP as well as AVID would.

    Hi Noah,

Not intending to be one man band in fact I insist on using at least a Sound Guy and assistant where possible. Don’t know where that came from??

My dilemma is I want to roll the 788T when I want too IE when I see a usable shot and I don’t want to have to tell sound to roll and I don’t want to carry links!!!!

I see massive use for such a device as IT sound becomes popular as will IT pictures.

    Any takers??

February 5, 2009 at 11:57 pm in reply to: software vision switcher

    Hi Jeremy,

As I mentioned the job is at a sporting event.

I have the Kona 3 in our colour suite and wanted to avoid pulling it apart to set up at a water skiing event in the dust etc.

I guess I was tapping the minds of this forum and I got what I needed, Jamies’ suggestion of BMD got me thinking about an already dusty tower downstairs.

    Job Done!!

    Thanks

    Thanks Jamie,

I wound up back at a BMD Decklink Card in a discarded tower and will use the keyer in it.

Interestingly found a few software switcher solutions for Houses of Worship but funnily enough they are mostly about keying words to songs!!!!

Bob – I only wanted to put some simple supers over one camera and the Grass Valley reference was tongue in cheek!!!! See the exclamation marks!!!!!

    Lighten up 🙂
