Okay, in my own defense I have been editing since 9am cst. and this is the third project I have started today.
It’s amazing how well the “Toggle Track Output” button works when it’s actually selected.
I’m calling it a day.

The project is a purchased template that was created with an earlier version of AE which had Lens Blur.
Subsequent AE version replaced Lens Blur with Camera Lens Blur. Upon loading the project a warning saying there is a reference to a missing affect, “Lens Blur” and to reload the effect. Lens Blur however is not available any longer.

I created a shape using the pen tool and am using it as a Alpha Inverted Matte to the layer below it.
Does that make a difference??

FWIW I found that time remapping and keyframing effects don’t play well together. At least in the effects panel.

Had a very knowledgeable friend point me to Track Matte which was an excellent solution.
