I think what some of us are after is the proper steps, say if shooting in 24p…24pn, can you just ingest to a 24 frame timeline in FCP or do you need to do someting before placing it on the timeline, do you need to use Cinema Tools or the FRC?

After seeing the Dorito’s ads on the super bowl, I’m thinking that I’m doing something wrong when shooting 24p…24pn…or even some of my 30p looks choppy.

A question for Peter, which I think you’ve already answered…if we have projects saved using Red 3.0 and then have reformatted our hard drive, can we simply load 4.0 then 4.1 (when FCP is fixed of course) and everything will work? Or will we need to load a patch so 4.1 can see 3.0 projects?

I believe I’ve tried this, I loaded 4.0 & then 4.1 on my Mac Pro, brought a project from my G5 Quad which had Red 3.0 filters in and loaded it on my Mac Pro. I think it came up saying something about “couldn’t find Red 3.0 Static Generator” or something like that. That got me conserned.

Back with 5.1.2 Boris stated that in the next update of FCP Boris would again work. Now we’ve had 5.1.3 and 5.1.4 and Boris still does not work correctly? May I be so bold to ask, who’s not communicating, Apple or Boris? Does Apple need help from Boris or does Boris need help from Apple? Us editors would love to WOW our clients with RED and Contimuum but if I have to jump through hoops to get it to work, the product is gonna go unused, which is hurting me and hurting Boris.

We need some good news.

I guess we’re still waiting on the fix from Apple to get the transitioins for Boris to work. I was told this wasn’t the one.

Oh well, gives me some time to reformat my system drive on my Mac Pro and load Leopard. That’s just a joke…..I hope.

I have noticed that when trying to install the 4.1 universal plugins, the upgrade will not let you. Will we again need to wait on a new upgrade from Boris once Apple releases the corrected version?

Thanks for the advise, I just captured some 24PN on my Dual Xeon Mac Pro and what a differance!!! There must be software that’s croupt on my G5 causing problems.

You know Tim, it sounds like there’s something wrong with your computer. I mean, didn’t you say on another forum that you were also having problems with your boris window resizing from HD to SD and vice vs? Sound like there just might be some croupt software on your system. Why don’t you try some 24PN on another computer? Let us know how it goes.
