Well…OK. That certainly wasn’t the impression you left when you mentioned it initially.
How many of the issues in this thread happened “once in a while” or even “once”?
If the issue can’t be repro’d (and I’m not saying that this applies to all the issues in this thread by any means), it’s pretty difficult to say that the beta team was asleep.
I would urge all the posters in this thread to meter their words carefully when they talk about issues they’ve been having. There are several of us here that can give input to Adobe and many of us would be interested in trying to repro a bug and we’ll file it.
If, in retrospect, a problem happens very infrequently, there’s probably some other factor that contributes…these issues can’t be fixed with only a small part of the information.
What I’d like to see instead of “It’s a mess” or “Don’t bother” or “…useless for real professionals…” is actual fact about some actual issue (and some of you have started this) that can be reproduced with specific steps, along with a system configuration if you want some help with the issue.
If you simply want to vent, I guess that’s your right, but there’s nothing for us to really have input on.

Just tried it…using the +/- on the numeric keypad seems to work fine…the +/- on the keyboard zooms the timeline of course…

Is your Num Lock on or off? If it’s off and you are using PgDn on the numeric keyboard, then “1” is actually “End” and it will shoot you to the end of the timeline. If it’s on, PgDn/PgUp won’t work as those keys only work as numbers and they start to direct input values in the TC counter…

OK, I think we need to stop sniping and get down to what the exact issues are. I understand that bugs are frustrating, but not all of these issues being reported in this thread are universal. If you have a bug that not everyone can reproduce, then maybe the software alone isn’t the issue.
…and my remarks are aimed at everyone in the thread, not just the users with complaints or the users defending Adobe…I just happened to post in to respond to Norman’s issues in the post above.

I thought maybe I needed to have my timeline highlighted or something, but no matter what I do, there are occasions when I cannot access this feature.
I still get the dreaded ‘failed to return a video frame’, a catch-all malaise that has never been adequately addressed in PP. And if anyone has ever followed the maze of troubleshooting for this issue that Adobe provides (in an area of its site not very helpfully signposted), they will know how frustrating it is to come out the other end no further ahead.
I have a Canopus Storm 2. PP 1.5 supported it, but it never worked well. Now I understand that Canopus is not even attempting to seek certification for 2.0. Members of Adobe’s promotional tour confided in me that as long as Canopus is effectively a rival with its own Edius editing software, Adobe is not inclined to be terribly cooperative.”
Edit original is somewhat dependent on the windows file association in some cases, and whether you saved a project with a project association in others. In Audition you can render a sound file and embed the project link…the project link would open the original file, etc.
The “failed to return a video frame” problem is one I’ve had consistently on some systems and not at all on others…it’s been very difficult to track…not an excuse, just a fact.
Canopus was not able to get their drivers to work properly for PPro 1…that’s when my cards were pulled (2 Storms and a DV Rex RT Pro). These were excellent cards and they served me well, but neither Canpus or Adobe signed an agreement with me that they’d work together forever…if you return the system to the configuration you bought it in, it still works very well I’d bet. Also…keep in mind that Matrox will be certified on all boards very soon as they are completely dependent on one application.
Regardless of how “cooperative” Adobe chooses to be (hey, they’re better than Apple), Canopus has to have a desire to pursue this course. Canopus took such a PR bath the first time the drivers came out, I don’t know what they would have to do to redeem themselves in user’s eyes, but I’m willing to bet no matter what they came up with-it wouldn’t be enough for a lot of people. When you have an application that is fast and stable like Edius, I’d think it’d be hard to get motivated to chase an elaborate and evolving SDK like PPro has…

I don’t use RPF files and I don’t have any media files over an hour long, but I did try the + and – key thing…I can’t see where I’d use it personally, but I don’t see any tracks locking and certainly no crashing…
I’m not saying that you don’t have a problem, but maybe it wasn’t reported during beta testing because none of us had a problem with it?
I selected the timecode number in the sequence window and typed the + and a number or the – and a number and it moved the CTI that number of frames…and no issues. Is this what you mean or do I need to do something different?

Yes…and it isn’t like a few of us who supply Adobe with input on these things haven’t been asking for these features…and, yes, many of us have some credentials.
I think there has to be a technical limitation in there somewhere, because separate bins have been asked for incessantly since PPro arrived on the scene, from all types of users.

Let me rephrase…seems like a good deal if there’s a lense. The body lists new for 16,500 which would mean the body alone can probably be bought for something in the neighborhood of 13-14K new from a dealer…
Though it’s been a wildly popular camera and maybe they’re only being sold at list?
