One thing you may try is exporting that test DVD as progressive. Progressive scales to progressive a LOT better than trying to up res interlaced material.

BTW, the Canon footage is PsF, whereas the DSLR footage is actually progressive…what sort of a timeline are you editing on? I’d probably try to post it all as 1080p…then convert. I assume the material is all the same framerate?

Quicktime is typically the culprit. Quicktime gamma errors just seem like they’ll be around until QTX is completely implemented (hopefully QTX has this problem solved…) and QT7 and earlier are banished forever…

Are you watching the footage on the same monitor in each case?

I doubt it’s a bug…it’s just likely the way it’s designed…kerning probably attaches to characters and kerning probably attaches to the text object (box).

I can’t say that I’ve ever had this happen or not, though I rarely do text graphics where I’m cramming lots and lots of text onto a screen…I tend to do titles and lower thirds, so it’s just possible that not many people have flagged it before…

Are you kerning letter-by-letter?

I’m not sure an empty text object (which is what you start with when you type that first key after selecting the text) can hang on to kerning info… I guess I never noticed…

Does the kerning value change in the panel to the right?

Right, but which monitor?

The sound will come from the AJA card when you route video and audio that way, it should come from your computer’s sound card when you aren’t using an AJA editing mode.

There is a setting in the preferences…the ASIO settings should give you a choice between AJA and Adobe or Windows or something like that.

Even if you can get audio from your computer while you send video to the AJA card, it would not be synced. You really want the video and audio to be together…all on the computer…or all on the Kona card.

If you see it playing through to the deck, but the deck isn’t recording…that sounds like the deck to me.

How close to the leader are you starting on these tapes when you record…do you master an entire show, or are you insert editing or…

The deck has to get up to speed to begin recording, so if the timeline wants to start and the deck isn’t rolling yet, there could be a lag.

I typically put some black in front on the timeline and make sure my timeline is set at whatever TC I’m supposed to have at program start.

The plugins work, but the card doesn’t?
