I have seen this bug many times in FCP. The solution is to right click and choose the first command “Open Timeline”.
That will fix the problem. -
Thanks for your help. This setup is also for a live event. I haven’t used any Motu hardware but it looks
like an older Avid I/O setup. Wondering about the Time Code as well. Thanks again,
Tim

thanks for info.
How hard was the process? Was it a digitize or import??

April 21, 2006 at 7:57 am in reply to: i invite discusion: does apple know about these “issues”I totally agree with Mr. Flood – The Out point is completely broken. If it is not why doesn’t the mark in button move one frame forward and put the mark there?? When you are dealing with four or more layers of video all cutting out at the same spot you find yourself constantly adjusting little one frame offsets.
There are a lot of things in FCP that are just Mickey Mouse. Slo Mo ramps and having the whole time line slide when you make a simple Slo Mo is ridiculous. Another thing that drives me crazy is why can’t the timeline scroll along with the playhead as you track through a show??? Another tool that is wholely inadequate is the Log and Capture. How much time is left in this capture?? Gee I guess I have to go over to the VTR and calculate that for myself as the FCP can’t tell me where I am during the capture. What codec am I using and how much space is left on the disk? Can I abort the capture I am using and discard material if there is a problem?
How about mastering to tape?? I just love going through a million steps before I can ooutput. Why can’t I just mark an In point and Out point and hit master?? Come on Apple wake up and make it PRO!!!

February 15, 2006 at 4:00 pm in reply to: What’s the alternative for Blackmagic DV capture.Hello,
I found this storage calculator which is quite handy.
https://www.aja.com/support_kona.html
scroll down the download page to the storage calculator
DVCPRO HD is only 14.5 MByets/second. 30 hours of DVCPRO HD is only 1.57 TB. This is actually about half the size of a Digibeta uncompressed. You didn’t say how many hours of HDV you had but it is only 3.32MBytes/second or 12 GB/Hour which is actually slightly smaller than DV files.
So why go small picture when HD is really here! You should get an HD Monitor but you can still downconvert in real time and view analog.
Good Luck,
Tim

Hi,
I got a dvd from panasonic showing off their varicam stuff at last years NAB. two projects were on the disc. The first is a 720 60 fps and the second is a 1080i 30fps. Call them and see if they have any others.

Correction on distort amount. Distort value should be 33. Sorry about that.

Hello,
There are three ways to fix this up.
1. Like after effects you can mess with the scale on the x axis. Open the motion tab
on the clip and go to distort>aspect enter 75 (If i remember correctly). That should do it.
2. Also if you set your timelime up as anamorphic in Seq. Settings and all of the 16×9 clips are declared as anamorphic (from the bin and go to Item Properties (Apple + 9). go down the list where it says anamorphic. The 16×9 clips should be checked and the 4×3 clios shuldn’t be marked. The computer will automatically adjust the clips on the timeline for you. This also works in reverse as well.
3. Use a plug in like Boris CC and use the DVE function that lets you adjust aspect on the X.Good Luck
