If your camera says: DV-IN, it’ll do. If it doesn’t, well, you’re out of luck.

you should check the “always compress” checkbox if i remember correctly. You shouldn’t loose sharpness while using microsoft DV avi though… I’ve used it before… it’s a 3 MB/sec standard codec… never had sharpness issues before.
check if you’re exporting to the same settings (pixels) as your original footage… happened to me once, the resize crippled my exported video…..

Premiere Pro is still a 32 Bit app. Plus the problems mentioned by Peter and Aanarav. Stay away from it, at least for now. Unless you want to run a Terrabyte+ filesystem, you don’t need WinXP64.

There are plugins for AE & PP available which will help you in giving your movie a certain look.
Take War Movies, for example. They usually aren’t as colorful as movies for kids or comedy stuff.
One of the plugins available and I personally recommend it:

I’ve never tried this in the titler, but I doubt that the Titler can handle jpegs.
Besides, what are the dimensions of that picture?

I suspect, you have a color profile active on CS2… it’s a pain… CS2 will change the display if a profile is active (you’ll want this if you’re doing offset print and really are into colors)… Don’t ask me where, but you can deactivate this…. try to look at your tiff using another viewer… and you’ll see that it’s only CS2 where it looks different.

Can you get me a screenshot of those stripes?
The export of your clips to DV PAL doesn’t have anything to do with your graphics card. (Unless you’re using cinch plug to view it on a TV)

Which version of Premiere are you using? What kind of Video Files are you trying to drag into the timeline? Is the Audio Track empty? Make sure you have enough empty audio tracks.

Where are you putting your captured files to now?
If you’re capturing to your C: drive, this is likely to be the cause because it’s the OS HDD.
Try setting the capture folders and temp folders of Premiere to a spare drive (possibly an empty one).
Dropped frames can be caused by fragmented drives (HDD has to jump to next free sector while recording) or other processes that access the same HDD during recording (such as the OS itself does many times a day)
