Using XP Pro 64 bit with Adobe Premiere 1.5
There seems to be much conflicted information about this relationship. I have been told it won’t work by source reps and yet reviewers tell a different story. Off the block I couldn’t get it to work either, but as soon as I configured audio it opened, and appears to be operational. But I am not satisfied with the results as of yet and would appreciate any advise.
I am running AP 6.0 under 2000 and it runs quite smooth. Clips in 1.5 under XP Pro 64 bit is wavey too much motion when running. I may not have all tweeked just right, but at this point don’t have a direction.
My setup is Asus K8N-E, AMD Athlon 64 3700+, 3gb DDR and 1.5 running out of the Raptor 10K hard drive. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks jay Varner

I had a go with X64/PPro 2.0 and Decklink (which has 64-bit drivers) but I gave it away and went back to 32-bit a couple of weeks ago. The system was too unworkable in daily use, I had trouble getting components working and some software (32-bit) wouldn’t even load. I guess I’ll await Vista.

64 bit Windows XP software has a lot of glitches as of this point. I would strongly advice staying away from it. Also, if you try to burn a DVD via Premiere Pro or Encore DVD with the 64 bit software, it won’t happen.

Premiere Pro is still a 32 Bit app. Plus the problems mentioned by Peter and Aanarav. Stay away from it, at least for now. Unless you want to run a Terrabyte+ filesystem, you don’t need WinXP64.
