@ Bart Straman
Thats actually pretty simple
I just created a new layer and applyed Fractal Noise to it.
Then I modified it a little, so it looks a little bit better. After That i masked out an cirle around me ( well, not really a circle) and feather the mask. it didnt look good so I change the color with a Hue/Saturation effect. To make it look “glow” you can change the overlaymode to add instead of overlay or something else.
Ok looking not bad but it seemed if it is a flat layer.
So go to effects and choose Distort->Spherize
Then increase the size of the sphere distortion so that it cover the whole mask. The additonally color of the Blast that comes from the right was made of a copy of the layer with the right color and a smaller mask at the point where the blast hits the shield.Thats it!
But you can add another cool look by using a displacement map from another fractal noise layer, so that the object that is protected looking a little bit distorted!
Hope this helped!

it normally shoud be there, im using also 6.0
and no you really dont need a plug in for this.
try to hit, withthe layer selected, M M
that should bring up the mask properties including the dropdown menu. The menu is after the mask nameThis is how it should look:
Layername
– Mask1…………..Add……….<---Thereshould be Mask shape.......Shape...................The dropdown Mask feather.....0,0 0,0pixels...........Menu Mask Opacity.....100% Mask Expansion...0,0 pixels If the menu isnt there, i dont know how. Try to reinstall -
make a new Text layer and type in your text
Then make sure your textlayer is selected and go to the effects panel and type in Ramp.
So there it is
Change the Colors and points so you like it.There is also a nother way to create it:
Make your text layer
Then make a new solid in comp size; color doesnt matter.
Go to the effectspanel and type in ramp and aply it to your solidDrag your solid beneath your text layer and go to the Mattes menu (hit F4 if you dont see it, its near the blending modes, in your timeline)
then select Aplha Matte “Your Text layer” (make sure its right under your text) (if aplha doesnt work try other ones)
Now you can change the colors and points and then take the pick whip from the solid and parent it to your text, so if your text is movin the ramp follows it.
I prefer the first method, but with the second one you can edit your solid ramp however you want (eg:paint on it)
You can also use a PreComp instead of a solid layer and go in the precomp and change how u like it,(eg: adding textures or whatever) -
hi niko!
For what do you want to use a luma matte and ramps?
forget that. I did also a “cloning” video of me (4 times, check this out on youtube.com/tommie12P)Ok, how it works:
-Make a new comp from your footage file
-duplicate your footage
-line both clips so, that your actions are overlapping (bring the opacity of the first layer down so you can see trough it)
-Then draw a mask around your first person ( it doesent have to be perfect just make sure you got it right)-Now you should see 2 of you at once
What you can do additionally:
-Feather the Mask
-Color correct one layer
-Animate the Mask shape in case of overlappinghope this helped you!

Yes I know, it looks like a Displacement Map!
Check out the Displacement Map Tutorial from Aharon Rabinowitz here on creativecow
(Go to Aharons Site on CreativeCow and go down to the Tutorials Displacement Map 1 – 3 ) -
i dindt watch the intro till the end (my bad internet 🙁 )
but the part i watched looked like a 2D Photo that was turned into 3D. -
The Cross only appears in a trial version.
go out and buy the cycore effects or check wheather you done it right or not -
