    Thanks for your reply Edward not sure your news letter explains what I want. can I copy the lot from word and and paste all in one go to the credit roll ( I have 80 names copied )in Vegas rather than one line at a time

    Yes I did but no joy I hade to re edit the wedding in the end as I could not find any way to open the file which by the way was edited origionly in vegas 6 and transfered to vegas 7 and can not now be opened in vegas 6 is this normal.

    Edward the veg file will not open at all I get a rectangle box blue at the top with (SONY VEGAS 7)header with the following message (An error occurred during the current operation
    An exception has occurred) at the bottom of this box it two buttons OK and DETAILS when I click on OK vegas closes down whe I click on details I get the details below

    On your timeline is ripple click on it, to the right of this is a small downward pointing arrow click on this select all tracks markers and regions , now everything to the right will move as one

    Edward again thank you for your patients I am getting a sort of what I want using your method LynxFX described it better than me maybe I am using the wrong terms. I will have another go before I give up on this, Lets say my background media was black with white letters counting down from 10 to 1 what I want is when I hit play at say no 5 my buttons fade away the countdown contuines for 2 seconds and does not jump to 10 as it links to the transition clip is what I want in DVDA

    Edward thanks for your replys I am not sure I have described properly what I am trying to achive so I will give it another go
    I have a DVD in my player with a motion background on this background is 4 buttons with the desired clips I select any button the buttons all fade from the screen leaving the motion background for approx 2 seconds this then fades to black and the clip selected fades in this is all done on pro studio with little effort.
