okay why do you think and why would say something like that?
If not the case why complain about it?

Reading this Blog I can hear the fear in between the lines of someone that is afraid losing project and jobs to a uprising generation that might be more talented with less technical knowledge which is learnable.

November 8, 2011 at 9:08 pm in reply to: New Walter Murch FCPX interview (from macvideo)

[Jamie Franklin] “If you’ve spent a decade using a multi-track and like roles, I won’t understand it, but there it is. You do…I think roles are not an acceptable replacement in my opinion. Maybe for projects that are exceedingly simple. But even still, meh…”

Or you don’t want to adjust, I use to hear this from many After Effect users how horrible Shake was with it’s Node editor. Yeah…

[Jamie Franklin] “When the leading editor of the Final Cut legacy says ick and adobe crew are posting in the Final Cut X forums with a smirk…yes, somethings dying all right…

Some of us are in denial of course ;)”

Your right but again this has happened before with Final Cut Pro 3… and wash’t there a Editor called… Walter Murch… oh yeah.

Here is quote back in the day when I decided to go with FCP3 instead with Avid. “It’s for hobbyist and wedding-grapher. Now look at it.

I will stay optimistic with FCPX and in fact we are seeing a increase of use in our shop. The only problem we have it it is the option to send a signal out to a broadcast monitor. But we went with the old paradigm and let the colorist do his job after the edit was done in FCPX. 😉

Yeah I tried that but it seems not to work.
I want create a highlight for a text graphic but when I set the group to normal the highlight (line object in white) doesn’t turn transparent out side of the graphic.

November 5, 2011 at 2:19 pm in reply to: Playback issues with Premiere Pro CS4

In order to be of much help, I’d need some of my other questions answered. Does the media fill the screen? If Premiere Pro sees it as being as small as you’re saying, it wouldn’t…

Also…is your QT up to date? That makes a big difference.

I used ProRes on Windows in Premiere Pro CS4, but I never did on a Mac. With CS4 being two…and nearly three released versions back, it’s hard to troubleshoot as there simply aren’t as many people running it anymore to try to reproduce the problem.

Yes all media is in Full Screen (Media and Sequence are identical)
Yes Quicktime is up to date (I am in a Macland environment no PC’s here)
All our ProRes footage plays fine in FCP7, FCPX, Media Composer and the variety other motion graphic programs i.e. After Effects, Motion, Shake and so on.

It is just Premiere Pro CS4 it will start to play and skip frames and just stop.

Oh yeah all CS4 are also up to date.

    Thanks

I am not generalization anything just saying I haven’t had tried Premiere (CS4) since we couldn’t to get the ProRes footage to play. The shop is in a ProRes workflow. Also I have mention this here at the Cow. 🙂

I don’t want to say it is more mouse driven then Avid since it always depends on your workflow, but after knowing all the FCPX hot keys I have more manuvering flexibility with the keyboard then in Final Cut Pro 7 and Media Composer 5.
In fact when Media Composer 5.5 hit (before Apple even mention anything about a new FCP) I requested a demo from Avid to show me a keyboard workflow I wasn’t really that impressed maybe bit more then FCP7 but not as in FCPX.

I guess yeah Media Composer more Mouse driven.

November 5, 2011 at 8:35 am in reply to: Is there a winner here between Canon and RED?

I don’t know the 14 thousand canon Red scarlet x kit sure does beat the 16 thousand Canon EOS C300.
Gives me 2k extra for another lens. But that’s my opinion..

I would not call it a creative option, more a Rodriguez low budget fix 😉
My take would be Red alone 1K 120 frames a sec. but the real winner is us!

    Heer is my take:
    Smoke – Tablet (muscle memory)
    FCPX – Keyboard (fast)
Premiere (can’t say much sine it wouldn’t play any ProRes footage right)
Avid – keyboard & mouse (old school way)
