August 29, 2013 at 8:52 am in reply to: Trouble with the AF100. Should I just give up?The skew can be from bad cables and not enough processing power of your PC/MAC and not necessarily the camera. I think you are another victim of hi-tech race of the future. Buy a camera today, and you will find it in the local museum tomorrow. It’s the name of the game unfortunately… Regarding the high frame rate of 60fps all you need to do is set the camera on FILM mode. Go to SCENE FILE and find the VFR Mode which stands for variable frame rate and turn it ON. Once you turn it on, on the back, outside of the AF100 theres a button that says DIAL SELECT. Press it until you get the indication on the screen that says DIAL FRAME RATE. When you reach that mode, underneath it theres a small cog wheel which says SHUTR/F.RATE. Than turn the cogwheel until you set the right frame rate. If your AF100 works in 59.94Hz than you will have up to 60fps frame rate available. If it works in 50Hz than you will be limited to 50fps. Theres also an update that provides on screen with 2.39:1 aspect ratio markers on the LCD.

Todd hi, i need your help. I am starting a series of tutorials for my channel on youtube on After Effects CS6 in greek language. Due to the fact that After Effects doesn’t come in Greek language and many people want to learn it. The problem is i am trying to find a way to give emphasis by zooming to a specific tab for example lwhile explaining during screen recording. Do i need to purchase a third party software or can After Effects do it by it self. I really appreciate your help.

First of all, what will you do with it? Editing, 3D animation, VFX? It depends on your workflow and what gear you already have so you can build on it. Unfortunately you won’t need the other cards if you get a good one like the Nvidia i suggested in y previous post. There are also cheaper options. Every graphic card is utilized for different things. Checkout this link and read a bit about it. And when you get a clearer picture than i will explain. Do you have a camera? Do you use RAW? I need to know all these things to guide you.

Just make sure you don’t choose a glossy black. Go preferably for the mat black and the darkest you can find.

The problem is that when you compress RAW to ProRes you have a loss of quality. You had to first color correct than compress your clips to ProRes and than do your editing. The software uses calculations to sync your footage with audio and etc based on time code. But once you compress your RAW in any other format those calculations that your editing software does change so sometimes there will be gaps or problem syncing your sound.

March 27, 2013 at 8:29 am in reply to: Problem- recording video on 5D M3 where in manual, video looks like Iris is closing down then back up!Because your lens has a long cylinder due to the high range of mm. of focal length means that the barrel of the lens is long. The longer the lens cylinder the more difficult is for the light to reach the sensor. When your lens was on auto-focus there was probably some movement from your subject. From that movement the lens attempt to zoom-in and focus better and while the lens cylinder extends when zooming in the f/stops drop.
