Are you sure that the sensor isn’t over-heating? It’s a common problem with DSLR’s trying to shoot video. Some Canon’s have a 12 minute time limit for video shooting so you will have to wait until the sensor cools down.

  • My advise is that for 30p you should use 1/60 shutter. And for indoors tungsten lighting setup i personally use 3200K. Though the problem you came across is not because of shutter or frame rates and stuff like that. Your lens probably was set on auto-iris or auto-focus. Or maybe there was movement from your subject and the lens tried to focus. While it did that due to the long barrel of the lens once you had your aperture wide-open the lens took it two f/stops down to compensate.

  • The encoding format of tiff is lossless but once it undergoes through any kid of compression it stops being lossless. Mind that the display you see on Premiere of your footage or on After Effects is NOT lossless. The more videos you load on premiere or after effects the less quality your display will have because the software downgrades its quality for the sake of performance. However the lossless remains lossless unless you compress it. If you do not use the right compression settings it is very likely you might end up with a lower quality of footage.

Hmm, good observation. Try this, select your still on the timeline then open the Inspector (Command+4) and use the Spatial Conform. If that doesn’t work than i am out of ideas 🙂

  • If you will shoot with Alexa ARRIRAW i recommend you color grade with Da Vinci Resolve in Prores444 and copy your LUT’s settings and apply them later onto the ARRIRAW. They won’t be any issues due to the same timecode.

Best way is to leave them as they are and compress them at their original frame rate and than slow the the 60fps in post.

Try Roxio Toast Titanium with the H.264 plugin. It is very stable.
