If you have 2 images on differen tracks, and you change the position of the images on 1 track by the EVENT PAN/CROP tool, the other image on the other track is not affected. So to understand what you are really doing, it would be helpful if you could show us a screenshot of your projct

PlaneSpace (Red Giant) can do this tremendous job for you. But PlaneSpace is a plugin for AE. And unlike other AE plugins, PlaneSpace will not plug into Vegas via the Boris plugin. So if you want to use PlaneSpace, you will have to use AE…

quote: Also, do you know of any good royalty free video places where I can find falling snow, or fire effects for using in my editing? `

If you need the snow and the fire only once, you can consider to install the trial versions of Boris FX or Particle Illusion and make the fire or the snow exactly as you wish.

Yes you are right. Overexposure is very difficult to correct. Anyway, if you have to try something, I think that the color curves is the best thing to try. However, the result will never be perfect.

You can add effects (like the cookie cutter ) in three different ways: to an event, to an track and to the project. It looks that you add your effects to the whole track (or even to the whole project).
You should add your effects to the event FX button on the events, not to the track FX button on the track header.

In case your whole footage consists of 1 (or more) very long events, you can split the event in shorter pieces with the S button before you add the effect. In that way, you can determine which part of your footage gets the effect.

To much light is always a bigger problem then a shot that is to dark. But without having seen your shot, I would suggest to use the color curves, if nessecary combined with a mask on a duplicate track as shown in this example:

I can not comment on the use of Claxa, since I have never used it. But if I read your story, I would say you really need a Motion Tracker function. Boris FX is a plugin for Vegas that contains such a Motion tracker. Did you ever try Boris FX or Boris Red? Maybe you even own Boris already?

January 1, 2009 at 2:15 pm in reply to: Using basic shapes

Making ‘shapes’ with the cookie cutter is as easy as making masks. But now you select CUT AWAY SELECTION and place your scene above a solid color (or whatever you like to have as texture for your shape).
(If it was possible to add .jpg files to this reply, I could show you how easy it is to create circle-shapes with the cookie cutter).

January 1, 2009 at 1:00 pm in reply to: how to draw a simple shape using Boris Graffiti 5.2

Go to the advanced mode of Graffitti
    Add a new track (TRACK-NEW SHAPE-3D PLANE)
    Press ‘M’
Draw your Box in the preview window
(press Shift during drawing to make a real square).
In the FILL tab, you can set a colour or make it transparant by making the FILL OPACITY zero.

January 1, 2009 at 12:31 pm in reply to: Cloning in Sony Vegas 9 Platinum?

Cloning is something you can do in Adobes After Effects (or even in Adobes photoshop CS3 and up). Or with Boris RED as a stand alone or as a plug-in in Vegas. But cloning with the Movie Studio version of Vegas? I really would like to see the link to all the v1deos you are talking about.
