If you go to OPTIONS-CUSTOMIZE KEYBOARD, you may configure the keyboard shortcuts exactly as you like.
Furthermore, I believe that you will be very pleased by the possibilities that are offered by scripts. Especially the Excalibur, Ultimate S and production Assistant are very helpfull in custimizing your workflow.

I’m not sure how well this works with Soundbooth CS3, since this function is enhanced in CS4. But you will find out when you try.
You can make a cut on both sites of the noise in your audio event and context click on this new event. Choose for OPEN COPY IN AUDIO EDITOR. It will generate a new take (only consisting of the small part of your audio), so your original audio will be undamaged.
When you are finished, close Soundbooth. It will ask you whether it should save the changes. Click yes and thats all. The new take will be on the timeline of Vegas.

No, I also can not copy this information to the clipboard. But Excalibur 6 has the possibility to place all unused items from the project media on the timeline or into a new bin. Maybe this is very usefull for you?

If you have Soundbooth CS4 as your audio editor in Vegas, you can fool a lot with the audio. Open Soundbooth from Vegas. Click Shift + F to go to the spectral view. At the toolbar select the rectular selection tool or the lasso tool and select the disturbance in the spectral view. Keep the area as small as possible to make sure you hit as little as possible of the nornal sound. Then right click on the selection and choose PROCESSES and AUTO HEAL. This can do miracles…
There is no need anymore to reduce the overall dbs.

This could be a codec problem. You can check the codec of your files with the program GSPOT. Download GSPOT here:

What you could do is make a cut in the audio clip at both sides of the background noise and open only this small fragment to your audio editor.

June 28, 2009 at 10:26 pm in reply to: Smooth Slow Motion (once and for all!)

If you would like to create a slow motion with the same frame-rate as your original footage (e.g. 29.97f/s), your software has to generate new frames, either by copying or interpolation. In both cases, you will loose quality (although interpolation should give better results than just copying).
The only way to create slow-motions without loss of quality is to generate your footage with a camera takes many more frames/second, so that the software doesn’t have to generate new frames.

June 28, 2009 at 10:01 pm in reply to: Pro Titler – lock/group text blocks?

The easiest way is to choose a font that supports superscript. Then you can add the superscript in the writingmode in the OPEN TYPE tab under VARIANTS.
But if you have to use a font that does not support superscript, you can mimick the superscript within just one textblock.
You can generate the ‘superscript’ by giving the textblock two lines (using ENTER). The bottom-line contains your word. At the site of the superscript, you add a space.
The superscript is placed on the topline (preceeded by a couple of spaces). By playing with the fontsize and the line-margin, you can have it look like a real superscript.
To make sure that the superscript moves synchronously with the rest of the word, you have to make the DELAY CURVE in the CASCADE SETTING flat (zero at all times).
