You using any audio files? Or .wmv files? I guess it’s not real fond of those; and try reloading the two missing files and see what that does.

Hello, I may have found a solution — at least it solved it on my end. When I tried rendering out at 720×486 using the Matrox codec, I got the AVI & Direct Show Error message too.

However, I changed my comp size to 720×480….and voila! It rendered, no problems at all.

Jon, I figured that’d be my last option (adding a second object to offset the center point). Hopefully Zax will remedy this in the newer versions of ProAnimator.

    Thanks for your time!

Hi Jon, just simply trying to move an anchor/pivot point so that it’s not centered on an object — for example, making a door look like it’s opening on it’s hinges (and not from it’s center!). If you look at this thread, https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/41/857486? , Serge states that moving a anchor/pivot point doesn’t exist. And yes, I do remember creating a null or invisible object in Invigorator to fake an anchor/pivot, but ProAnim4 doesn’t offer any options or workarounds for this?

    thanks,
    Craig

Anyone respond to this one yet? I’m wondering the same thing — how do you move the pivot point? If at all possible.

Couldn’t find it in the manual or FAQs…

Actually, I just found it on the Adobe web site; in case any of you run into this problem, you need to delete your OpenGL from the plug-ins directory and then AE 7.0 runs fine. There’s some sort of conflict going on there on particular machines….

    thanks,

Sam.mltn, an even easier solution to the problem; thanks! Yes, I could see why you wouldn’t always want roving keyframes, especially if you’re just extending an effect.

Yes, that was what I was looking for; just finished watching Aharon’s tutorial and it thoroughly answered my question (probably yours too Dave!) — I’ve been hitting a lot of Aharon’s tutorials as of late and completely overlooked that one – thanks Justin!

I’m still using AE 6.5 for now, but am looking forward to the sticky windows that 7.0 offers — I’ve always wanted to be able to look at my comp at percentages other than 25%, 50, 100, 200, 400….

Aharon, was just going through some of your video tutorials last week — great stuff!!! Love the “Text Wipe On Effects” & “Film Flash”, but hadn’t yet reached the Z-scale tutorial (saw this morning that you had that one on there too).

Anyway, thanks….the Advanced 3D tab answered my posted question (without the plug-ins) – simple solution, very nice 🙂 …

July 1, 2005 at 6:34 pm in reply to: “Auto levels” effect – out of memory

Found the answer to my question on the Adobe forums; if any of you are having RAM problems, try this out (i.e., use the ‘secret menu’ and set your layer cache to clear every certain number of frames; I set mine to clear every 90). Why would Adobe have a secret menu? Sheesh…

    “throw away” of preview memory

    mischi forster – 11:43pm May 9, 2005 Pacific

    Hi there,
I have a problem all the time: Well I’ve 2 Gigs of memory, but still the memory gets full so many times after about ten minutes using AE. Is there a way to “throw away” the preview memory so I don’t have to restart AfterEffects to have more ram?

    Well, thanks a lot,

    Michael

but sometimes (randomly but fairly often) this doesn’t seem to work. You purge the memory but AE seems to hang on to what its doing and refuses to clear the preview

anyone else had any problems with this?

Nope, but if you have problems rendering, try out the “Secret Menu” in preferences.. I think you need to hold shift and then go to prefs.. Hit the back button, and voila, the “Secret Window”. That will allow you to clear it after each frame.

Yep. Seems to happen here too. It would be nice if it have a confimation window pop up after it does it ‘thing’. Also it should have a toolbar button so you can click it more often with ease.
