Yeah, that’s what I would do. Animate the card dance, deactivate the effect, mask the 9 bloks in, duplicante the layer and invert the mask in one of them. Then turn the effect on and turn on the 3d switch in in the layer with the inner box. Put the anchor point in the centre of that box, not of the layer and rotate it.

    I haven’t tested it, anyway.

What JoeyTheDog probably means: put the mask on a solid right above the arrow layer in the timeline and in swiches/modes, chose MODE – Alpha Matte “Solid 1”.

  • Yeah, rather than removing ALL motion blur, try just unchecking the layers you don’t think will really need it. Motion blur increases the render time almost exponentially.

You could also try increasing the maximum memory usage, mine is currently at 120%, perhaps you could run AE at 2000% or so, I don’t know. Edit/preferences/memory&cache.

When you press the control key while choosing a keyframe in the timeline, you hear the audio at that frame just like in Premiere without pressing anything. That helps with some small adjustments, but I agree AE is not the best choice for editing audio.

  • I didn’t understand all of that, but I think your problem could be in After Effects, when you import them, the pixels of the pics are square, right?

If so, in AE, right click in the footage, choose “Interpret Footage/main…” and there in Other options, D1/DV PAL 1.07.

As far as I know, that’s not necessary. With animated properties in AE you don’t need to do that, frames inbetween get interpolated in the final composition. Still, what you say would be good for placing keyframes with more detail or, say, time resolution.

Oh, and I forgot to say that the whole thing is based on a fast script demo by Dan Ebberts posted here:

It was a great begining for our little project. Perhaps you can work on it on your own based on it, too.

I am working with a great programmer on a script for doing just that. I hope I will publish the resulting scripts here. They look amazing so far, better than what I expected.
