BetaSP will be more prone to dropouts and likely exhibit increased video & chroma noise.

If by “live capture” you mean “without tape” and capturing an event as-it-happened…

Oops! You’re likely out of luck.

I’ve always been afraid of not “getting the shot” because of a capture glitch.
Hope you have a tape backup.

Sounds like the heads are clogged on the camcorder.

Carefully use a head cleaning tape, or just put a new blank tape in the camera and let it PLAY for 10 minutes, then try playing your recorded tape again.

How about using several cordless telephones with earsets plugged in?

Whole thing could be bought for under a couple hundred dollars.

    FireWire is what you want.

Can you hear any clicking when you just listen to a tape directly
    through the deck’s headphone out?

Have you tried setting FCP to the 48kHz audio setting and capturing?

(I never change from 48KHz and still capture 38kHz audio with no problems.)

[Ben Bickford] “How do I work out what 0.5 cycles is”

“0,5 cycles” in regard to what time-frame?

    I’ll assume per second.

    In NTSC:

    30 frames = 1.0 second

    15 frames = 0.5 second

IF this is what you want, it would be a freeze-frame that remained on-screen for half-second, and refreshed (new freeze-frame) every half-second.

First things that came to mind-

Are you trying to record on standard BetaCam and not BetaCam SP?

Is the record-tab in the lock-out position?

There is a Strobe Video Filter.

    Its in the “Video” folder.

    Adjustment is by frames.
