Just to add, the 16:9 Widescreen TV aspect ratio preset was being used in both instances.

I have posted the question on the VideoRedo forum and they just pointed the finger that it was a Sony Vegas issue.

Interestingly enough, there is an option to save the video clip taking out all sound in VideoRedo. When i do this the clip will import fully so i guess there is a work around to get the files to fully load at least.

I had same issue. I uninstalled Quicktime from my computer (whatever version is bundled with itunes 10). I downgraded to a previous version of quicktime and no more black video (of course now itunes 10 doesn’t work for me, but i decided to uninstall that bulk software from my computer and use mediamonkey).

I’m no expert in the matter, but i was experiencing a similar issue with .mp4 files(audio fine, video black). Problem only started to occur after upgrading to itunes 10. A post suggested that i use a previous version of Quicktime which i tried and it actually solved my problem (not at home computer, so not positive what version of Quicktime i installed, just know it downgraded to a previous version)

This was the last straw for itunes and decided to completely uninstalled the program from my computer and now using mediamonkey exclusively.

  • I share out some of the .MPG files online with other users and i wouldn’t want them to experience the same issue i’m experiencing. I’d either have to add 5 seconds of fluff footage or possibly there are some options in VideoRedo to prevent this from occurring.

I tested out a clip that was being cut and loaded it in Windows Movie Maker just to see if it experienced the same problem. It would play the entire file with no problems. Can you think of anything that might be causing it to be getting cut off in Sony Vegas yet play fine in WMM, VLC, DivX player, Windows Media Player, etc.

I should mention that it doesn’t seem to matter the format of the clips i’m working with. I work with avi’s, mpeg’s, and vob’s mostly and i can tell you the problem has definitely occurred with MPEG and VOB files.
