  • Problems importing Video Redo clips into Vegas

Posted by Terry Creech on March 21, 2011 at 3:55 am

Whenever i try importing a file that was made with VideoRedo, it will fail to load the last 5-10 seconds of the clip into Sony Vegas regardless of the clips length. For example:

00:00:55 of a 00:01:00 clip will import into Vegas.
01:59:55 of a 02:00:00 clip will import into Vegas.

The clips made with VideoRedo import fully in other software programs (such as Windows Movie Maker) and play fully in VLC, Windows Mediaplayer Classic, QuickTime, etc.

Is there an option i need to enable/disable in Sony Vegas to allow the entire clip to be imported? Any ideas or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks
    TJ

It sounds like VideoRedo is creating some non-compliant video files. I don’t think there is anything you can do in Vegas to fix this. You might try using another program to make these files or complain to the VideoRedo guys that their files can’t be imported into Vegas. Something they are doing is not right.

For the files you have that don’t import, you can try converting them to another easily editable format with Streamclip. (free) and then see if Vegas can fully open them. Danny Hays

I have posted the question on the VideoRedo forum and they just pointed the finger that it was a Sony Vegas issue.

Interestingly enough, there is an option to save the video clip taking out all sound in VideoRedo. When i do this the clip will import fully so i guess there is a work around to get the files to fully load at least.

That’s a good clue… it seems that the audio is the problem. Just export it separately and combine it on the timeline in Vegas.
