CS6 has pretty much identical info panel as 5.5. I can see every video and audio track timecodes in there.

Check out your display settings. The Nvidia control panel has settings for interlaced and progressive scan under the “change resolution”-tab. Dunno about ATI cards.

After some personal experience with the 2012 linux build I really wouldn’t bet on that.

If the footage looks good on the cameras screen then you might have a faulty firewire port on the camera.

You can’t put 24fps footage on a DVD as DVD-video track. It’s either 25fps PAL or 29,97fps NTSC.

Rendering seems to take about as long as FCP – and on that subject, how the heck do you turn off the automatic playback of the sequence after render? It makes me lose my place and gets quite annoying.”
You can set up track selection shortcuts in the keyboard shortcuts menu. They aren’t used by default. Also the automatic playback can be disabled in preferences -> general -> play work area after rendering previews.

This happened once after making the OPENCL text hack. I tested the new Premiere without the hack and I didn’t have any problems like this. I’ve never ever gotten a kernel panic on this Mac. I’m not a hardcore IT guy but what I figured out from the panic log was that Premiere was the culprit.

HD prores/DNxHD footage works great in full quality realtime even with a couple of effects on it. There’s the red bar but you don’t have to render. The Mac is the same as you were thinking of buying except this one has 16 gigs of RAM, a SSD for the system drive and the Pegasus RAID.

I also tried to bring a 1 hour 20 minute online of a movie (HD prores, HD DPX sequences) that I did with CS 5.5 in. The computer hung up when I just imported the sequence from the project file. Opening the project itself seemed to work better and it ran better than in 5.5.
